Is there anything I can give DD...
...to make her sleep longer during the day? She used to be a really good napper, but now she is only sleeping for 30-40 minutes. She wakes up crying and obviously still tired but will not go back to sleep. I ahve been dealing with this tired baby for over a week now, and she (and I) are just miserable! I try all the old tricks to get her to sleep -- rocking, shushing, music, binkie -- but nothing works. She wants to play with the binkie now and just stiffens up her body and screams when I try to rock her. She finally falls asleep screaming after she is totall exhausted. I just don't know what to do with her anymore. Any suggestions?

Correct me if I'm wrong (because I can't remember a damn thing anymore since I had Ava ), but weren't you asking about Zantac yesterday? If so, that sounds basically how Ava was before we put her on Zantac and is very familiar to how she acts when her reflux is particularly bad.

Re: Is there anything I can give DD...
Yes, I was asking about the Zantac yesterday. I think I'm going to take her to the ped tomorrow to get some just to at least see if it will help. The only thing is, this is pretty much her only symptom of reflux (along with the spitting up) so I don't know if she needs the Zantac or not. What puzzles me is that the spitting up, bad napping and inconsolable crying really only started around 3 months. I'm just so lost here, but I need to be able to help this baby sleep during the day...

Have you tried putting her in the swing to nap? Hayley used to love to nap in the swing.

She used to nap really well in the swing. Now she cries if she is put in there when she needs to sleep. If she is in it and falls asleep, it is still only for a short time.

Re: Is there anything I can give DD...
Your DD is just a couple weeks older than Gianna, my DD has gone from taking good 1 hour-2hour naps to 15-40 min power naps throughout the day. She takes about 3-5 a day. So maybe it's just their age
I also noticed that DD prefers not to be held sometimes. She'll get extremely fussy, and i'll just put her down on her activity mat and she'll play, coo, scream for good 30 mins.
I know when DD's reflux bothers her cause she stiffens, and we can't lay her down, she wakes up alot from the reflux. She went from pepcid, and now she is on prevacid, which is helping alot more.

Re: Is there anything I can give DD...
Thanks for all the info ladies. I'm actually taking her to the doctor this afternoon to discuss the reflux and napping issues. I hope I can get her semi-straightened out before I go back to work on Thursday night.
