Cruises smelly in general
Followed the Carnival fiasco and I'm not saying this to "compare" obviously, but am I the only one that always finds them smelly?
Been on three lines now and idk of it's general closed-space farting (exacerbated by all you can eat buffets) or something to do with cruise sewage logistics.

I have not found that at all. I have been on Celebrity and NCL. I recommend getting a balcony room so you can open a window to dissipate bad smells.

I have never had any "smelly" issues on any cruise line I've been on. Well maybe for a few minutes but never for a prolonged period of time.

I think the older ships are "smelly" as one of my friends when on RCCL and found her ship to smell and I have been on the same cruiseline but newer ships and never experienced that.

Cruises smelly in general
The only smell I distinctly remember is the cloud of cigarette smoke that I had to routinely pass through on one of my princess cruises... It was so nasty and traveled down the corridor where there were staterooms on the pool deck level.... The smell even creeped into my room that on was the deck below... So bad that I seriously thought the person who cleaned our room was smoking in it...

I have gone on around 15 cruises. Only once in one small area did I every smell anything and they were fixing a clogged toilet (stateroom attendant ecplained). It went away when it was fixed. But no I am not used to smells. I haven been on one NCL, 2 Princess, a ton of Celebrity and one now defunct 5 star line in the greek islands, and turkey.

When we docked at a port once there was a horrible smell but it was gone when we started moving.

LOL. I think it's because there are no windows unless you have a verandah so there is less fresh air than a regular hotel room. I definitely found smells hang in the air more in a cruise stateroom.

 I was gonna say the only time I find them to be smelly is when DH blows up the bathroom!
