Girls that are being induced or have already been induced
Can you eat before you go in? I'm scheduled for next week and am not seeing my dr beforehand to ask (I can always call though). I'm scheduled for 6am induction...should I wake up extra early to eat or can I bring something with me or do I need an empty stomach?

Re: Girls that are being induced or have already been induced
I was told to eat before I came in, and to make sure it was something I wouldn't mind vomiting (on the outside chance that I threw up during labor). Once I got to the hospital, there was no room available for me, so we were sent to the cafeteria and instructed to eat again, lol. I'd say definitely eat... it can be a long process. I was scheduled for 6am on a Monday and she was born on Tuesday at 1:30 in the afternoon. Although I didn't even notice hunger at that point!

I was not told to fast. You should eat normally b/c once your in your room and hooked up you dont eat ( well I didnt) and it was a long time until I was able to eat.. it was Thanksgiving Day to boot!! I was starving when I was finally served food ~ my family brought up home cooked food for me :)

I was scheduled to go in at 6am for an induction and was told that I couldn't eat after midnight.

Definitely eat before you leave. I got to the hospital at 3:30 on Thursday, and wasn't allowed to eat solid food untill Saturday night! (ended up having a c-section). I was STARVING!

Same-I had to get to the hospital at 4:30 am, my induction started at 6am and I couldn't eat after midnight, which was easy to do.

I ate before my induction-I could only get down toast since I was so nervous, but at least is was something in my stomach. Definitely eat.

Definitely eat - once you get there they don't let you eat. My induction took 48 hours. The chicken parm I had after I delivered might have been the best thing I ever ate!
I did insist on Jello in between rounds of cervadil, so make sure you stand up for yourself and at least get some clear liquids in between rounds.
Good luck!

I ate as we were filling out the paperwork! Thank god because I didn't get to eat for 40 hours. I too insisted on jello and clear broth. Ended up with a section anyway after all that. Def eat!!

Definitely eat...a big meal. You don't know how long you will be in there. In my case I was induced Monday and DD didn't come until Wednesday.

Re: Girls that are being induced or have already been induced
They let me eat but once the cervadil was in place I couldn't eat or drink for 2 hours then it was clears only. Once the cervadil was out I was allowed to have breakfast and once the pitocin started nothing but ice chips.

Re: Girls that are being induced or have already been induced
I would eat something light before going into the hospital to be enduced. Getting induced, labor on a full stomach isnt really pretty if you know what I mean. hahah then again there is nothing pretty about delivering a baby.
Also I could care less about eating or food once they started the cervadil... all I wanted was drugs!

This is exactly what happened to me and after I gave birth I vomited a little bit from the mix of pain meds and orange juice/ginger ale drink they gave me. 30 hours with no food and all that work really wrecks you lol
