Should I bring ds back to the ped?

Ds has been sick since last Wednesday. He ran a fever for a couple of days & has had a cough & runny nose. We brought him to the ped on Friday & she said that everything looks ok & it's a cold. He hasn't had a fever since Friday but has been coughing(wet cough) & his nose is runny still. He isn't eating, playing or sleeping normal for days. I've tried everything. Vicks on the bottom of his feet, humidifier, sitting in a steamy bathroom & nothing is working. Do you think I should bring him back to the ped or just let this cold take its course?

Is he still having wet/poopy diapers?

When I'm not sure whether to bring dd, I talk to the md on the phone. They will tell me whether I should bring her in again.

Its hard to say - trust your instinct... Poor little guy - hope he feels better!!

I have gone through this countless times with both DC. I would bring them to the ped for the first time and he would say its nothing but a cold and then 3 days later when things started to get worse I would bring them back and they would have an ear infection. Chances are it did start out as a "cold" but very well may have turned into something that will require some sort of antibiotics... My point is, take him back for some piece of mind. No need for him to suffer if he can get some relief. KWIM?

Then I would definitely bring him back. DD had alot of issues with coughing and I always brought her back. Whats the worse they can say is its nothing but for your own peace of mind I would bring him in.

I would def bring him back if he's not getting any better. Something else could be developing. Better to check him.

I would bring him back. My dd had the same symptoms and developed the cough yesterday. Brought her this morn and she needed antibiotics and cough medicine. I always say its better to be safe than sorry.

My son has the exact same thing since Sunday. Took him to the ped tonight. They tested him for strep. Negative. She said he has croup. Not too much to do. Basically all the stuff you mentioned.

She also said we could give him Benadryl for his runny nose, honey or tea with honey (he is 14 months) for his throat, and prescribed him a steroid but only said to give it to him if he really needed it in the middle of the night and has a coughing fit.

I would prob call the ped if I were you and see what they say.

DS had this. His Ped gave him a cough bottle. But after a week he was getting worse and this the 3rd time he got it i took him to a new doctor for a 2nd oppinion as he is only 10 months. Doc gave steroids and an antibiotic and said he never should have been given the cough bottle as he is too small. After 24 hours on meds he is 100% better. Trust your instincts.
