Spinoff to organic milk...
I've been reading the recent posts about organic milk that isn't ultra pasteurized...I never knew anything about this before now! My DD is 17 months old and I've been giving her Horizon or Stonyfield organic milk since she's 12 months. Am I the only one?? I had no idea that I wasn't giving her the best milk option! Does anyone know whether the Natures Promise brand at stop n shop is ultra pasteurized?

I am just starting to get into understanding the ultra pasteurized thing and i am pretty sure that the milk i have been buying has been regular pasteurized.
One of the things I do know is that Horizon is not a good brand to buy - yes they are everywhere but they are not as good as the others - I am basing this on this website and their data - http://www.cornucopia.org/dairysurvey/index.html
Basically every other brand in stores is better than Horizon.
Stonyfield good, Whole Foods brand good, Trader Joes brand good...

I've been buying Stonyfield also and now I see that it is ultra pasteurized. I am not sure about Nature's Promise.... I'm going to look it up when I can.

My DS does not even get Organic. DS drinks Lactaid and they do nto have an organic version.

Same here- I've been buying Nature promise for well over a year now for my son! I hope it isnt ultra pasturized

Spinoff to organic milk...
We either get Trader Joes or Fairway (Fairway is from grass fed cows, which is probably better).
Some people go as far as buying pasteurized nonhomogenized which supposedly is even better.

My DS as well but, it's hormone free - as compared to the store brand lactose free versions.

Organic Valley makes Lactose Free which is what DD drinks in 2% which her ped said is fine since she eats yogurt and cheese, etc...

Thank you for all the responses....here I was thinking that I was doing the right thing by just buying organic! Who knew I'd end up stressing about milk now! I'm curious about the Natures Promise brand...I can't find the answer online.

FYI- I was curious so I checked this out. I am looking at all of the Nature's Promise cartons on the Peapod site and every one of them says "Ultra Pasteurized"...

I have natures promise in my fridge
1% says ultra pasteurized This is a half gallon container
2% says pasteurized this is a gallon container
No idea why they are different
