Someone just drove by my house and took a picture
It could be a comp ... i bought this house in 2009, but it was disturbing how fast the car stopped, hand stuck out and flash, then zoom, car is gone.
i'm kind of wigged out. should i be?
(just had a fios installation today, could they be checking on his work?)

i know my MIL took pictures of houses she liked in the neighbor hood for when they re-did their house for ideas. maybe that?

I wouldn't think too much of it. Have you recently made some upgrades to the outside of your house? Maybe someone who is doing renovations liked something they saw.

This happened to my dentist once and she was really freaked out.
If it makes you feel any better te people behind me have the same house with a dormer. I drive by all the time and look at it. I've considered taking pics because I really want to dormer mine the same way, they have an awesome porch.
I sound like a creeper. Lol I hope they never noticed.

It might be an appraiser using your house as a comp for a house for sale in the area.

Sometimes the people that used to own our house (original owners) will come by and take a picture, and share with the rest of the family.
They will come by every 5 years or so. Last time we spoke to them, they said they put the pictures in their family scrapbook.

Did you challenge your taxes and get a lower assessment? If so, it could be the county taking a new picture to update the mynassauproperties website. After we bought our house someone came.by and did the same thing and it freaked me out too!!

this to me is weird. they do not live there anymore, why would they want someone elses house in their family scrapbook. take pics of your new house. just weird

We drove by my DH childhood home and took a picture once to show his mom of how much the new owners changed the house. I wouldnt think anything of it. Someone also could like the style of your house and want to show their realtor. If you see them again though then I would be concerned and try to get their plate numbers.

When DH and I were getting ideas for our house we would drive around and take pics of houses we liked. One time we were taking a picture and this lady ran out of the house yelling at us! I'm sure if I would've explained what we were doing she wouldn't have freaked out. But we just sped away instead!!

I don't mind.
I drive by my childhood home if I'm in the neighborhood to see what it looks like now, and to bring back memories.

I worked for town hall for 5 years, every two or three the tax assessors office have to send their guys out to get an updated picture of the homes in the town. It was like a 6 month ordeal.

I DID!!! I WON my grievance too!!!!
I hope this is it.
BTW - i was standing at my kitchen window which is over my sink, washing dishes...
ETA: the way in which the photo was taken was the sketchy part. they didn't park, basically did a drive by shooting...
