These might be silly questions but we have never been and I don't know anything about the area. We booked Castles in the Sand, I think it is on the ocean side. My son is not really a swimmer per se, and now I am thinking it might be better to be on the bay side? Are they any good hotels right on the beach on the bay side that are close to the boardwalk? Thanks!

I wouldn't really want to swim on the bay side. In all my years going there growing up we fished off the dock into the bay and never swam. There are tons of crabs and run off from boats and jet skis so I wouldn't want to let me or my kid swim there. Unless I misunderstood what you are saying. Plus the places on the beach side usually always have pools for your ds to swim.

The ocean beaches aren't really like those on LI. The waves are very mild (at least when I've been there) and most people hang out on floats in the water.
