mantle decor - no tv - update
What do you have on your mantle?
I thought I wanted a big clock, but I have bought and returned a bunch, I am not getting the look that I want.
Please help with mantle decorating ideas.

I have candles, decorative vases and pictures. I love the way my mantle looks and the way my house smells when all the candles are on.

I have an oval mirror flanked by sconces and then I change the decor around a lot depending on season. Most times I have a floral arrangement in the middle, 2 4X6 framed pictures, an angel statuette and a candle holder.

Ours is a work in progress. I'm still trying to figure out if I even like the mirror. I think I'm going to try to add some family pictures and remove candles.
I personally hate the color of the wood and the tile, but since we're in a rental I have to work with it.

i dont have a mantle but if i did, id put a mirror over it with candles and picture frames
my in laws have a mantle in their summer house- they have this small-ish rectangular shaped sign that says 'surf side avenue' or something like that, and behind it, mounted onto the wall they have a large fishing net (no pole, just net) and 'tangled' in the net they have starfish, shells - little things like that. on the mantle itself they have fish, seashells, navy colored pic frames etc.
i know its a fishing theme for a summer house, but the idea that it doesnt have to be something traditional like a mirror or family photo might get you going with other non traditional ideas :)

here is mine. it's kinda plain since I took down the xmas decor. But, I usually switch it up with some candles, maybe a plant and pic frames

I have a lantern with a candle in it n 2 candles that are on wooden candle stick holders... A rectangular mirror n neutral berry garland that i got from michaels... It really pulls the whole look together.. Oh n i cant forget a picture frame of my dd

We have a large wedding picture hanging right above it with a few 5x7 frames of family on the mantel itself.
Oh and my FIL  in an Urn.

Big giant mirror leaning on the mantle (also attached to the wall) that takes up most of the space on top, then a few plants on each end for greenery and some picture frames and candles in the middle
nothing too matchy matchy, each frame is different, but they're all horizontal

we have a painting above ours and then sitting on the mantle tons of junk lol with 2 1/2 yr old twins everything i don't want them to touch goes up there
but its supposed to be a lamp on each end and then some candles and collectibles and picture frames
