For those who use non clumping kitty litter
I have been trying Yesterdays News based on a previous post on here. But my question is - how do you change it? I scoop out the poop but how do I know I am getting the urine out? I don't want to scoop out unused pellets, but really can't tell the difference. But lately there is a very strong urine odor in the littler box.

Back in the day before I used clumping litter, you just changed the box, the whole thing. All the litter in it. I used to line the bottom with newspaper and pour some litter on the top. For one cat I used to have the change the box every few days.

I use Feline Pine. I scoop the poop and the pee breaks down the pellets. Doesn't start to smell like urine until the pellets are pretty broken down, about a week to 10 days. Then I just change the whole box. I use a plastic liner, makes it easier to change the box.
