Baby's first food
DD was just given the okay to eat solids, what did you start your LO on? My ped said rice cereal or veggies.
What would be best?

Re: Baby's first food
We just started with tseamed / mashed sweet potato. Banana is another great option! Mixed in with a little breastmilk.
We skipped over cereals per our ped's recommendation.

This is what we did too. Rice is very binding and I didn't want to cause any constipation problems.

just started dd on oatmeal yesterday. shes 6 months. will introduce a fruit in a few days, and then another 3 days later. once i know she isnt allergic to each fruit, then i can start mixing them with the cereal and or other fruits

Baby's first food
With DS 2, we started with oatmeal since he had constipation problems. We moved after 3 days to fruits.
With DS 1, we started with rice and then after 3 days went to oatmeal and then to fruits. He did better with the foods that had flavor - wasn't a huge fan of the rice cereal unless it was mixed with something else.

Re: Baby's first food
Don't start with rice cereal... Skip it. It will prob constipated him. We started with oatmeal. Dd absolutely loves it and continues to have it just about every morn. Then move onto fruits and veggies. I didn't try much with dd since she wasn't a fan of purées so we skipped to table food. She hasn't looked back lol

Same here. Oatmeal, then banana, then squash, and on from there. Only difference is we moved on after 3-4 days of each.

Re: Baby's first food
I started my DD with oatmeal during her 5th month. When she turns 6 months, I will start with apples and bananas.
