Using the infant carrier w/out the base?
I am still working on my upcoming air travel with DD - do I need to bring my carseat base for use in the rental car? I have a Chicco and know it can be secured with just the seatbelt. Wondering if anyone's done it, looks like it would be wobbly and unsafe?

its safe i used it in cabs just make sure you push the front seat up to the car seat so t doesnt move.

Are you gate checking the carseat? I used one of those carseat travel bags and the entire carseat fit in--base and all.
I find without it the seat is very wobbly...and I hated that esp when in cabs and not in control of the driving.

When we went away we just used the carrier strapped in without an issue. Just make sure to make the belt very tight.

Seat belt is fine. DS's base didn't fit in our mustang and we always just put the seat in there with out it. Just make sure you thread the seat belt correctly on the seat and it is nice and tight!

Thx everyone else...it just doesn't look safe to me but I am going to try it out in my car.

If you need to do this, the seat isn't installed correctly and using the front seat to brace it is completely unsafe. These seats are designed to move in a collision
