Solids for Lunch
DD just turned 8 months and I introduced solids for lunch. She was getting breakfast and dinner. SO, do I need to reduce the amount of formula she is getting?? She gets 6 oz every 3 hours. Should I cut her down to 5 oz per bottle or do I just cut her lunch bottle down since she is getting solids???
Her schedule goes something like this...
6am bottle 7am breakfast 9-10 bottle 12-1 Lunch w/ bottle 3/4 Bottle 5 Dinner 6:30/7 Bottle/Bed ....
I read somewhere that for every oz of soilds she gets, I need to decrease that from her liquid??

Re: Solids for Lunch
DD is on almost the same exact schedule. Just remove the 12:00 bottle and replace it with solids. Right now she gets 4 "milk feedings" a day. I nurse her am and pm and she gets a bottle between breakfast and lunch and one between lunch and dinner.
ETA...I would remove that one bottle but not decrease the amount of ounces in the other bottles. It's still most important that she gets her nutrition from formula/breastmilk now.

Re: Solids for Lunch
I just added lunch to DS scheudle. He is 6.5 but has been eating solids since a lil before 4 months old. His new schedule is
7:00 Bottle 8oz 8:30 jar fruit w/ 2 TBS oatmeal 11:00 Bottle 8oz 12:30 jar of veggies 3:00 Bottle 8oz 5:30 Jar veggies w/ 2TBS oatmeal 7:00 Bottle 8oz
I have only been doing this a few days and i notice some bottles he wont drink the full 8oz but I offer b/c prior to solid for lunch, he had 5 bottles every 3 hours with total of 35 ounces.

Solids for Lunch
My PED said not to decrease the amount in the bottles when starting solids. DS started eating a little less formula so one 8 oz bottle became a 4 oz bottle that he often doesn't finish. I would just follow your baby's cues to see if she's drinking less formula and then go from there.
