For those who have had IUI during the week

How did your DH handle the pressure of going before work? We think my 2nd IUI will be around Wed and DH and I leave around 7am. Obviously I will be going in late but he has to go to the city and sometimes gets home super late, I'm afraid he won't be able to "perform". Any tips?? I was lucky last month was on a Sat

For those who have had IUI during the week

Make sure he gives himself enough time to produce his sample. My last cycle, my husband was running a little late, and he only left himself a few minutes before I was supposed to leave. So there he is in the basement watching a "movie" and I wanted to keep screaming "hurry up" but I knew that would definitely not help him.

Is he producing the sample at home or the doctor's office? I don't think my DH would be able to do it in the doctor's office.

It is hard... We've never done this personally but I think you can have some vials frozen and kept there for emergencies. I think they do this for IVF at some places since there's really no option to not perform that day!!! You should ask about that, maybe it would ease up the pressure a bit to know there's backup!

Even though we go through a lot, I do feel bad for our DHs.
The first month he gave sample at office bc we didn't have a cup. He said there was a janitor outside the door the whole time and he was so uncomfortable. That first month I was all like, "Do you know what I have to go through? At least your part is fun." But then the second and third time he did it at home and I saw how difficult it was for him because of the pressure to perform, even with help I'm a little more empathetic now lol.

DH won't let me help. I tried. Thought it would ease the situation. He said me being there was putting more pressure on him. I had to go upstairs and watch tv(and the clock). It's awful it was too good to be true when we got pregnant on the first IUI we were like thank god! Unfortunately it ended in a chemical. I was so hoping he wouldn't have to do this again. I can handle the visits, blood work, sonos, he on the other hand doesn't handle well. I try to make it as easy on him as I can.

my dh always did,he said they had good porn


maybe doing it there will actually be less pressure bc there is no limit on like ok i have to be there at this time etc..he goes in the room and when he is done he is done even if it takes a bit

This. We just did this. Froze a sample two weeks before retrieval. Best "insurance policy" we've ever bought! [/QUOTE


We froze DH as well,he currently works overnight shift at work and many days our work and IUI appointments do not match. We have enough for 1 month.- Def look into that, it's another expense but worth it

My dh always does it at home. He said he feels more comfortable. We drop it off and then he leaves for work. I have done many a IUI alone!!!

I go thru IUI without him there. I rather him save his days off for the day we are preg

I definitely plan on doing the IUI alone, its just getting the sample there at an ungodly hour. How much is it to freeze it? Never knew that was an option

We go to li I'vf and we didn't get our bill yet but they had a special for 3 months and it was $175
