PCOS success??
Just wanted to know if anyone has gotten pregnant maybe during an off time or while on a break? IVF is my next step after many many IUI'S. I took december and january off and just did acupuncture. My acu guy said he would help and the first month he did help shorten my cycles. I guess I was just wondering if I am wasting my time trying "naturally" and just start IVF? I don't know what's making me stall....money, nerves?!?

Re: PCOS success??
A friend of mine was recommended to go to an accupuncturist after her first failed IVF cycle. She started the treatement around the time she started preparing for her second IVF cycle, which also failed. She couldn't afford anymore IVF but continued with the acupuncture and herbs. Within 2 cycles she was pregnant. He dx was anovulatory PCOS. ETA: some people believe that she got pregnant from all the meds in her system, and others think the acupuncture was the cause.

Re: PCOS success??
I have polycystic Ovaries. I am in the 2ww but I just started treatment w letrozole & ovidrel. However, neither my ob or my re will diagnose me w PCOS because they tell me my cd 3 bloodwork fsh/LH ratio is normal and does NOT support the diagnosis. Maybe its characterized differently if all bloodwork is normal. I have no idea but will keep you posted. My re told me its not a hard problem to treat.
An extended cousin of mine did get pregnant on her own w PCOS and did not use acupuncture.

Thank u! Will do! Can I ask you what vitamins your hubby is on? I take metformin and folic acid as well as a prenatal of course. I conceived my ds through an iui with clomid and trigger. This time it just hasn't worked yet. ??

Re: PCOS success??
Yes, yes, yes!
I have PCOS, diagnosed at 26. When trying for our 1st we went straight to the RE bc I wasn't getting my period at all so obviously we had no chance on our own (well, tiny) and we did a medicated b2b IUI cycle and conceived our son.
Fast forward 3 years and we decided to TTC for #2. I was getting my period but my cycles were long and getting longer over time - went from 32 days to 35. I went to the RE and had all the testing done, etc. PCOS still the same, etc. Asked if we could possibly conceive using OPK"s, etc and the RE (who helped me conceive our DS on our 1st try) said no, not possible. WHen I had my monitored cycle my cycle was 40 days! Anyway, I was hesitant about moving forward with fertility treatments and really wanted to try on our own so I got some Wondfo OPK's on Amazon and started using them. I assumed I'd have a 34ish day cycle so started using the OPK's on day 14 or so of my cycle. One morning I got a positive OPK, and then that afternoon really think I felt that ovulated bc I felt a sudden pain on my side. Called DH and said we must "do it" tonight. Worst sex ever that night, lol. But, we conceived DC2 that night. On our own. Wasn't hopeful bc the next day was when i had my apptmt with the RE (the one where he said it wasn't possible) so I just went on. Decided that we'd start our IUI cycle when I got AF/CD1. Was waiting and counting days since I was told to call for Provera and took a preg test, negative. Waited 2 more days and got a BFP! Light line but it was there. I am now 10 weeks. Went to see the RE for sonos and was on Crinone.
If you want to wait, then keep trying on your own. You don't have anything to lose. If you are not ready and/or need a break, that's fine. Wishing you lots of luck. I actually posted ? about PCOS and getting pregnant on my own. If you do a search for my name you should find it.

Re: PCOS success??
I have PCOS -- I am due Monday with my first after 3 rounds of clomid + metformin. But, I came on here to share the story of my friend who also has PCOS --
She was trying for a few months and went to an RE who had her DH tested to find out he had a lower sperm count (not terribly low) and some irregular sperm. She was told they'd need to do IUI do conceive. She did 3 rounds of IUIs with no success. She tried acupuncture with no success. They decided to do IVF, but she was so drained from everything else, she decided to wait a few months. In the meantime, they moved to another state and were trying to figure out a new doctor, etc. Well, I had a dream that she was pregnant and texted her about it. I found out 2 months later that she took a pregnancy test the day after I texted her and found out she was pregnant! She's now 25 weeks with a and doing really well. They conceived on a month with no medication and when she wasn't trying! So, while this might be rare, it's possible!!!
I know when I was TTC and having problems, I loved looking back on old infertility posts to see most of them now had babies in their pictures. It made me feel better. I also loved hearing success stories! Good luck to you!

Re: PCOS success??
I always heard about those girls who "took a break" and got pregnant on their own and NEVER in million years did I think I would be one of those girls..........NEVER!!............but then I was!! So it can happen, that's for sure.
I had VERY irregular cycles so I went to see an RE. I conceived my DD with Metformin and one IUI in 2008. We got lucky and got pregnant fast with her. I thought it would be as easy the second time around.
Then in 2010 we tried for #2 and I was on Metformin and Clomid and we had multiple IUI's. I miscarried three times that year and then on top of that had another 4-5 failed IUI's..........I lost count. When all was said and done, we weren't pregnant and we were out of IF coverage so now we were on our own.
2011, we did nothing but hope and pray and we didn't get pregnant.
Then in 2012 we decided to pay OOP for one last IUI, this time with injectables. My IUI failed but then the craziest thing happened.............my normally erratic and unpredictable cycles normalized. For three months I was like clockwork and more importantly...........I OVULATED!!! On the third cycle we got lucky and we were pregnant...........ALL NATURAL!!..........no doctors, no meds, no procedures, no nothing!! Just good old fashioned was all it took. I NEVER, EVER in a million years would've thought (given our history) that we'd conceive on our own. I was in complete and total shock!!!
I am due in just under 7 weeks with our little !!!
LOTS and LOTS of luck to you!!! Hope you get your BFP soon!!!!!
ETA - I was diagnosed with "mild" PCOS. My RE described PCOS as falling on a spectrum when it came to issues and symptoms. I was evidently on the low end of this so called spectrum.

Re: PCOS success??
Yes, I have PCOS - I have a 3 year old DS as a result of IVF / ICSI and I am now 24 weeks pregnant with twin boys as a result of a frozen cycle (from the IVF / ICSI in 2009). What made the difference for me was Metformin, a low carb & sugar diet and acupuncture! Oh and for my cycle in 2009 I was big on adding ground flax seed to my diet.
