Monetary Gifts and gift letter

We are in contract for a home, I have a trust fund that my grandfather set up that he is going to liquidate so we can use it towards the house. Who do I get the gift letter from? The Realtor? Mortgage broker? Lawyer? I've been emailing and calling my mortgage broker to no avail, I am going to my grandfather's this weekend and I want to make sure that i have that ready to go! We have a tentative closing date of the 15th, and while I know it's pretty far fetched, I am trying to make it happen!! :)

TIA!

Re: Monetary Gifts and gift letter

the gift letter come from your grandfather

he needs to write that the money is a gift and you do not need to pay him back

your mortgage lender should have explained all this- Please ask them to go over exactly what needs to be in the letter

Re: Monetary Gifts and gift letter

or ask your lawyer since your lender isn't getting back to you- that's unacceptable to me

Re: Monetary Gifts and gift letter

Thank you. This whole thing has been a PITA! My mortgage broker is supposedly sick, and has been since December. I emailed her Monday, after I left a message on her phone, she just wrote back with what I needed, that's it. I had asked her another question, but she didn't answer it. I am getting so fed up with people not calling me back. I understand the day can get away from you, but, and I hate to say it, this is her job, to make sure everything goes smoothly, I'd love to close by mid February, but I haven't heard from her. I just can't wait to be done with this!

Re: Monetary Gifts and gift letter

I hate hearing stories like this!

I hope you can close mid feb- you do have 30 days from the contract date- but it redic the lender isn't getting back to you- if you are that sick you need to have someone cover your files

I did have a lender tell me I was horrible for making him work on a loan and miss his wife's christmas party-

christmas party vs someone buying a home....if this is a question you are in the wrong business!

good luck!

feel free to message me with questions-(I am a realtor)
