full moon and HR

i come into work to an email from my HR contact asking me to see her...
I go downstairs and she gives me another set of disability papers (they already have mine on file with the end date in Feb as that is when i plan on working til assuming baby cooperates). she says its a full moon tomorrow and a lot of women go into labor on a full moon so she wants me to have papers that my doctor can fill out just in case.
i was like ok thanks and left her office - thinking she is a nutcase. but i googled it and apparently a lot of people think that it is true, but there is no scientific proof

has anyone else heard of this???

im 38 weeks and would be more then happy to have this baby arrive asap just never heard of that connection

Yes! I have heard of this. I look at it as an old wives tale so I'm surprised HR would put any stock in it!!

I had my dd on a new moon and the delivery room was packed! I asked the nurse if it is always this busy and she said yes when it's a new moon or full moon.

I've heard it too. I've heard people think it has to do with the gravitational pull.

I've heard this before and a quick Google search seems to give conflicting responses. I'm really surprised your HR people would even consider this though, that seems kinda nutty! I'm also 38 weeks tomorrow and wondering if it will have any effect on me. We shall see . . .

I'm just laughing because I work in HR and if I ever gave all the pregnant women at my company another set of paperwork because of a full moon my boss WOULD DEFINITELY have my head examined! That is so random!

Me too! I was 39 weeks and my water broke (due to the gravitational pull?). They didn't have a bed available for me in the maternity ward until late afternoon the next day, it was so busy! I am definitely a believer, but it is very funny that your HR would consider it. Good luck!

Oh, don't worry. It actually wasn't so bad. I got to spend the night and almost a whole day in the labor & delivery room - which was HUGE and private! Chat Icon

I had my dd during a freak snowstorm when we were living in Utah in MAY. At the end of MAY! There were 11 girls that went into labor all at the same time b/c they said of the snowstorm. Anything is possible. The nurses were going crazy, not in a bad way, but very busy going back and forth between all of us!
