Down coats - feathers or stuffing poking out?
I've never owned a down coat until this year. It's black and I got it on sale at old navy in November.
Now it's January and I'm noticing tons of little white feather things (or whatever) sprouting through the coat. It's so noticeable because my coat is black.
Is this normal? Or did I get what I paid for?
It's driving me mad.

I think it's the sign of a cheap coat. I have had down coats from Calvin Klein and j crew and it never happened. Last year I bought one from NY and Company and its constantly shedding feathers all over me.

It happens...I have a Calvin Klein down and an Ann Taylor down and I have feathers coming out.

Same here.
No matter what down coat I wear, there is always a feather poking out.

Same. Kenneth Cole jacket and I do see a feather here and there.
Not a ton or often- but occassionally

I HATEEEEE down coats for this reason. I can't stand the little feathers everywhere, on me, in my car, etc... I finally just found a coat at Kohls on sale. So many coats are down, it was hard to find one that wasn't.

I have an Eddie Bauer down coat. Very warm and comfortable. No feathers coming out. Like PP have said, it may be a sign of a lesser quality coat (ON is super reasonable but not the greatest quality, kwim?).
This time of year, you can actually find some great sales on down coats so I'd look online, department stores, Tanger, etc. to see what's out there!

I have a Mackage down coat and have never seen the feathers come out, the coat costs over $500 though, maybe thats why.

I have several Lands End down coats and they all do this.
I just bought my first Lands End jacket that I love... and it does this too! Drives me crazy but the jacket is so warm and flattering!
