getting enough nourishment
lets start off by saying im hefty. losy 50lbs and still have a 40 to go, or did before this.
my question is.. im not hungry, almost ever. when i am, i eat a few bites and am full. Im aware so when i do eat, its healthy, fruits, grains, proteins etc.
do i force myself to eat more? or assume my excess blubber is doing the job?

Re: getting enough nourishment
I suggest just taking prenatals and eating nutrition bars as snacks. I am not a doctor, but that is what I would do.

Re: getting enough nourishment
I lost about 50 lbs before getting pg too, and still have some excess... I haven't really been hungry but have been trying my best to eat fruits, veggies, and proteins (I can only stomach chicken since I got pg as far as meat goes)...
I actually lost about 15 pounds since getting pregnant (my fertility dr had me taking hcg shots for immune purposes, which I think is aiding in my losing weight) and I got the flu for almost a week and couldn't keep anything down... They actually made me go see a nutritionist who told me she feels I'm eating sufficiently, but I weighed myself this morning and I don't think I've gained any weight--- if anything I may have lost more. She wants them to monitor my weight at each appointment and I will have to see her in a month again (and keep a food log), but she said in the first trimester they're fine (I'm pg w/ twins) and they get their nutrients off my stored fat (who knew it-- a benefit to being overweight! ) I think as long as you're eating what you can (and staying well hydrated) that it should be fine.

Re: getting enough nourishment
How far along are you? It is very common in the first trimester not to be hungry. Your baby only needs a few hundred calories at this point, so eat what you feel like eating and don't push yourself. Smoothies are a great way to get your calories and nutrients in.
Don't worry, the hunger will come as your pregnancy progresses.

Re: getting enough nourishment
In the first trimester I could barely eat anything. I lost 4 pounds. My OB said not to worry, just take my vitamins and eat what I can.
