Anyone on here over 40?

Im 40 Im expecting my 3rd child. I feel great. I got pregnant a week after my 40th birthday. I have no symptoms at all. Besides the constant "advanced maternal age" worry Im good.
I am concerned how my body will be AFTER baby.. its gonna be 2x as hard to get it back.

Re: Anyone on here over 40?

I am... This is my first after a long time trying and praying... All in all I do not think I have experienced anything that could not happen to a younger woman but my energy level is a bit lower and I am sure it will take me a bit longer to bounce back afterwards ...

Re: Anyone on here over 40?

I am 40 with my 2nd child, my DS is almost 2 so had my first at 38. I don't think anything is different than other folks experience, though I suspect I might have had more energy if I did this 15 years ago! (though less patience and a much less wonderful Dad for my kids)

Anyone on here over 40?

Turned 43 a month after having my 3rd, was easy pregnancy for most part, normal symptoms, but no MS, only things is more tired, after i had her 2wk check weight I was less than when I started at beginning. Cesction recovery was tons easier than my other one 11yrs ago with my daughter who was emergency c. Husband wants me to try again for a boy now, since this baby was his first and was a girl....

Re: Anyone on here over 40?

Thank you SO much for your replies. Its great to see a few moms on there who are not in their late 20's early 30's and I say that purely from a selfish point of view as I am 41 and torn between what to do. I want a third but after three miscarriages I am reluctant to try again but its still there and I dont know if it will ever go away.

If I were to become pregnant again then my oldest would be 7.5 and my now youngest 4 when the baby would arrive. I had wanted the age gap to be shorter - I had hoped to have had my third when DS was 2.5 but it didn't turn out that way. I am wondering if my ship has sailed and I should just concentrate on raising my two beautiful healthy kids that I have OR if I will also regret not trying one more time. I know the clock is about to explode so its now or never.

I also dont know if its fair on the baby as I would be 47 when the baby would be going to kindergarten...would I be the visible "old" mom? Do any of you have these thoughts or concerns?

Thanks again and so happy you are all having safe and healthy pregnanciesChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Go with your gut. I m/c in 2011 and was tossed to try again. My heart was YES YES but I didnt want to feel like that again (shocked, sad, mad ect). It took me 8mnths to get pregnant again. I different this time, I can honestly say Im not really "connected" to this pregnancy Im very cautious & try not to think about it too much (I know that's bad) and I set myself up for the worst. Its a protection mechanism. Even though Im a healthy, active 40yr old anything can happen but I didn't want fear to determine my future. I can only hope that this pregnancy results in a healthy baby. We don't have control over the inevitable. Good Luck to you Chat Icon
