Vacation and Naps
DS is on a pretty consistent schedule waking at 7, nap at 11 until anywhere from 12 until 1:30 and then bed at 7. He is 18 months. We are going on vacation with my whole family and i know that it will be impossible for him to take his nap everyday if at all. I am not going to be able to stay in and let him sleep. My concern is for when we get home. Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did it go? Did it take very long to get back in the old routine?

Where are you going?
When we travel, we like to keep DS on as good of a schedule as possible. We usually go to warmer/beachy destinations. DS will nap in his stroller or on the beach outside or in the unit depending on the temperature.

Re: Vacation and Naps
We are going to FL. If it is nice I know that we will be at the beach. My DS only falls asleep in his crib or in the car. I can never really transfer him anywhere once he falls asleep. Like never to the stroller or cib, unless it bedtime. I can't imagine him falling asleep randomly at the beach because he won't be able to relax himself. Maybe he will surprise me!

Re: Vacation and Naps
Dd never falls asleep anywhere beside her crib even as an infant. Maybe 5 times in21/2 yes has she fallen asleep in her stroller. That being said we always went back to the room to sleep. Nap was to important for her w/out it she was a mess. When we do skip nap we generally get back on schedule but it takes a few days.

Re: Vacation and Naps
If you are at a resort, you could go back to the room to nap him. If not, could you take him for a walk in the stroller?
May take a few days to get back into your routine when you get home, but he will fall back in.

Vacation and Naps
While I tried to keep our schedule the same when we were away, it just didn't work out. There was so much going on and DD was just not going to take a nap in the hotel room. On the 3rd day I stopped trying and let her just nap in her stroller when were out and she was tired. It wasn't a problem at all when we got back. I went back to our normal schedule and she just did what she always did. She was 11 months at the time and took two solid naps and sttn.

Re: Vacation and Naps
My DD only naps in the car, stroller, crib, and pack and play. I was so nervous about spending all day at the beach. A friend told me her boys would nap on the beach, I was like my DD will never nap at the beach.
I am no sure what kind of magic air is at the beach, she would nap 2-3 hours at the beach. She would lie down and we would rub her back and she would be out like a light. We would have to wake her up so we could leave.

Re: Vacation and Naps
We're going to Disney next week. My DS usually naps from 1-3, and I'm going to try to stick to that schedule. We are going to split our days in half and go back to the room to nap after lunch. He doesn't usually fall asleep unless he's in his crib or the car, but I think he'll be ok... He's going to have very packed/busy days so he'll be exhausted!

Re: Vacation and Naps
When we only had 1 DS, one parent would go back to the room for nap and the other parent would lounge by the pool alone or take a break in the room as well.
Now our younger DS falls asleep in the stroller when we are out and about. Our older DS no longer naps.
We took DS#2 to Disney World when he was exactly 1yo and then at 18m. He fell asleep like clockwork in the stroller. It was easy breezy.
