Mommies of Girls AND Boys..............
.................What's it like??!!
My DD will be 4.5 when our DS is born and obviously, I know all about being a "girl mommy" but I am curious how that differs from being a "boy mommy" too. I am wondering if it'a a totally different experience or very similar. I am so excited to have a son but I just don't know what to expect. My last 4.5 years have been filled with pink, frills, and everything girly.
Any BTDT advice is appreciated.

Mommies of Girls AND Boys..............
I have a 3.5 yo girl who I absolutely adore...But...DS who's almost 10 month just melts my heart. It's hard to explain, but it's different. He was a momma's boy from birth lol. Just the way he looks at me is so sweet <3

Re: Mommies of Girls AND Boys..............
I don't have a girl but I know my boys are total mamas boys. They love to cuddle and give hugs. The difference I see between my boys and my friend who has girls is there personalitys. The girls tend to be a little more calm. Like to sit and color, paint, do a puzzle. While the boys love to run, jump, yell. My older son has no interest in sitting and coloring. My youngest is into everything. I know this doesn't go for all boys and girls, but it's true for my family.
My sister has two girls and a boy. Her girls where pretty mellow toddlers. They listened well and would sit and play. Her boy was different. He was a bit wild as a toddler. Would run away from you, always touching things at other people's houses, wouldn't always listen. He is older now, and much better. My sister always says there is just something about having a boy. Some kind of special bond between mother and son. His hugs and kisses melt her heart.

Be prepared to have him melt your heart! My girl is awesome is so many ways but she's not the lover my little guy is. He wants to hold my hand, he wants to cuddle and he's generally always easy going and sweet. (My girl is more serious and dramatic.) He's a bit of a daredevil, which has scared the beejeebus out of me a few times!

Re: Mommies of Girls AND Boys..............
I think it's so sweet that everyone (on LIF and IRL) says the same thing...........they melt your heart. That's awesome!! I think because my DD is such a mush I was worried that because he's a boy he would be less interested in wanting to be Mommy's little snuggle bug but reading all of your responses makes me feel so much better. I love all the cuddling and mushiness when they are little!!
Any tips for boy babies I need to know? I want to be prepared. I feel like I was less worried and more prepared when I had a girl because, well, I am one!

Re: Mommies of Girls AND Boys..............
he is a maniac, and is walking/taking steps before DD even crawled.
His physical nature is total opposite, but he's so sweet, but my DD is very sweet too.
And EVERYTHING is in his mouth. Like, everything.
I would start prepping your DD for those little toys/accessories and designating special areas to play with them, etc.
Congrats btw! I really love having one of each

I find this so funny because my kids are the exact opposite! My DS is the calm, sweet, loving one while DD is an absolute maniac and gets into everything! She is almost 3 and has only very recently become affectionate. She has a killer imagination though!
Every kid is different, girl/boy doesn't matter, but I will say this: be prepared for a lot of plaid and argyle come holiday time. Designers aren't very creative when it comes to dressing up little boys.

I could not agree with this more. My DD is 3.5 and DS is 2.5. There is just something about mine and his relationship that is hard to explain, but it's amazing. As far as their personality differences go... They are complete opposites of each other, and very stereotypical boy/girl. My DS is a little tornado of energy...rough, loud, messy. DD is gentle and kind and thoughtful. Seriously, they couldn't be more different.

I only have a boy but most of my friends have girls. He is all over the place, into EVERYTHING. But he is such a happy boy. Loves to give hugs and blow kisses. From what I've seen, in general boys and girls are very different but they are each fun in their own ways.

So funny, I've already noticed that with the boy clothes as I've been shopping a lot for him. I find the girl clothes more fashionable and trendy but the boy clothes, while cute, are a whole lot of dinosaurs, trucks, footballs.........and like you said, plaid. Guess I will save money though whereas with my DD I go a little nuts with the clothes shopping.
Thanks everyone for the insight. I appreciate hearing your experiences. It's exciting to have one of each. DH is super thrilled for sure!.........now he won't be outnumbered. But it's cool to have the experience of both genders. I am looking forward to the challenge. And secretly, I am hoping he takes after my DD with sleeping and being mellow. Wishful thinking right?
Thanks again for sharing!

Re: Mommies of Girls AND Boys..............
My daughter is calm, sweet, a people pleaser. She is 3.5 yo. I can spend ALL day with her & it's a pleasure. I never have to yell. Cuddle & watch Dora, play. A very easy going day.
My son is 2.. he is exhausting. He bites, hits, does not sit still. Has no interest in watching tv. Wants my attention 100% of the time. Last week I sat down for 5 minutes and thought, "oh, good.. he's playing nice with his sister"..he returned to hand me the contents of my jewelery box But he loves to cuddle, and the impish smiles he gives. fun & adorable He's a typical boy...jumping off the couches, standing on the table if I turn my back to get a dish. Loves balls, cars, trucks. It's a different kind of wild fun.
I'm very happy I have a &
They are complete opposites on everything. I make chili, she eats the meat, he eats the beans. Her pancake syrup must be on the plate, his ON the pancakes. She was conversational by 2, he still just words. It's hysterical.

Re: Mommies of Girls AND Boys..............
Well, I have in that order. I didn't find out what I was having for any of them. When my DDs were born I thought I hit the lottery because I was really hoping for girls both times. Also, I only have a sister, 95% of my cousins and their kids were girls, at the time I was teaching at an all-girls hs--I knew girls. This was my face when I would observe boys
My last pregnancy I really didn't have a preference at all, but when my son was born I was sort of--not disappointed, not upset--I guess shocked and worried. It's sort of embarrassing to admit, but it took me a few months to adjust. But now, 27 months later...
The sun rises and sets on my little guy! I am so happy we have him. His sisters adore him! Yesssss...as Randella said, nail everything down. My 2nd DD is a wild child, but my DS takes destruction to a whole new level (although that's slowing down now). Yet, he is the only one of my children to run into my arms with a shriek and a huge smile when I pick him up from his play school. He loves Thomas, so I've got more trains than I ever thought possible. Loves anything with wheels, really. Yet, he also wears headbands. Unlike my girls, he dislikes arts and crafts, but similar to them, he loves to read and is a great sleeper. Oh, and I kinda like shopping for him! In short, I'm a little bit obsessed
Good luck, you will love having a boy!

Re: Mommies of Girls AND Boys..............
My son... My son is wild and crazy. He's in everything... In the dirt, in the applesauce, he catches bugs. He gets dirty in 2 seconds. It's funny actually, now. Lol.
He's the best though. He cuddles with me. He wants me to do everything for him. He makes me scratch his back and rub his feet. He puts things together for me. He's like a little man.
