When do you know your DC is dehydrated from the stomach bug?

Re: Stomach bug and dehydration
The best way to tell is to check how many times they've peed.
Keep in mind, with a high fever they can dehydrate quickly so sips of water are essential - even throughout the night if you can. For toddlers sometimes a straw can help.
The biggest sign is crying without tears. When you see that, you should be on your way to get IV fluid.
Just as an FYI, PM Pediatrics will give an IV for fluids if you are trying to avoid the ER co pay.
If you are in ANY doubt, head to your pediatrician.

He has no fever. But , he hasn't peed since 10pm last night. I called the dr and told them this. They said small sips of liquids every 15-20 mins. But, I'm afraid he's already dehydrated. He hasn't cried yet.

Stomach bug and dehydration
This happened to DD. I ended up giving her Pedialyte ice pops. She started peeing soon after. No matter how hard I tried to get her to drink she just wouldn't take enough.

When you stop seeing frequent wet diapers, they're dehydrated.

He's potty trained, so no diapers. He hasn't urinated since yesterday evening around 10pm. It's 5:15pm now. I'm prob gonna take him to PM Pediatrics.

DD had the stomach bug and wasn't peeing. She wouldn't drink enough water so we got pedialyte, she sucked it down and was fine shortly after

That happened to my daughter and we went there. They had us give her Gatorade for an hour and when she wouldn't pee still, they put an IV in. I was so happy we went and they did a great job!
