Donation for Christening

I'm not Catholic so I know zip about this. Tiny Tot is getting Baptized on Sunday.

What should we be putting in that envelope? Does it need to be cash?

Now I feel bad. We showed up without any money. I'm not Catholic, my husband is and can't be bothered to remember the little details. I was mortified. My inlaws gave the donation but I think it was only like $50. Grrr how embarassing!

We gave $200, but we belong to a small (Episcopalian) church with a small congregation & they realllllly need the money. I think that $100 is good!

Awww don't be embarrassed! It's a donation & you give what you can give, if you can give. If they expected more, I'm sure that you would have received some sort of notice which a recommended or suggested donation on it! Chat Icon

We gave $80 - that is the amount the church told us we needed to donate. They sent an envelope prior to the Christening and we paid via check.

I probably would have given $100 if they didn't tell us what to give - I know I could've given more but, based on the way everything was handled regarding the donation - I didn't want to.
