Crazy or not??
I'm thinking about going camping about 3.5 weeks before my due date for about 4 days...we would be only going somewhere local, but I know my kids would love it! We would totally be sleeping in a tent, and if I was miserable, we could always leave early and come home, but I hate to take away all of our fun family things this summer! Crazy??

Ummm.......insane.
I couldn't get comfortable on a couch, in a chair, in a bed etc at that point in my last pregnancy........no way in heck I would function on an air mattress in a tent. That's crazy. Not to mention you could go early. I wouldn't do it.

We'd probably go to Indian Island in Riverhead...we'd totally be tenting it (with an air mattress) and we've done it before...I'm delivering at Stony Brook...I'm not really concerned about going into labor or anything, more concerned about being huge! I know its insane, but at the same time, I want my kids to have a little fun this summer before the baby comes and we can't go away or anything...

I think you will be uncomfortable but if you are willing to put up with that, pack the air mattress and a pregnancy pillow and roll with it! If you need to bail, would your DH stay with them. Could you take an extra adult, (friend, family member) who could let you have more of a break if you need it?

Um, I'm about that far from my due date now and you couldn't pay me enough to go camping or sleep on an air mattress. As it is I can barely get comfy on our pillow top mattress with lots of fluffy pillows surrounding me.
Personally, I'd pass or let your husband take the kids and enjoy a few days to yourself.

Ehhhhh... I am about 4.5 weeks away from my due date and the thought of sleeping in a tent makes me want to cry. I'm not one for camping to begin with but I am just so uncomfortable right now I couldn't do it if someone offered me enormous sums of cash.
I would maybe go hang out with the family during the day and then head home at night.

I will probably book it, and wait and see. We won't go any further away than that, so anything else is probably out. I always felt good in the past at that time, so hopefully this time will be the same.

I camped at around 20 weeks pregnant and it was fine. I would not camp at 36 weeks pregnant, I would be miserable.

I am crashing to say that is nuts!
Seriously, I felt great with all three of my pregnancies. I walked around DC for three days in July while 8 months w/my first and took a 10 hour road trip one way and back again while 8 months with my third, but sleeping is something I could not get comfortable doing at all...let alone on an air mattress. In a tent. During summer.
It's funny, I was just organizing my photos and commented to my DH how many things we did in 2010. Then we both remembered how we tried to pack everything in for our girls before #3 was born late that year. We went away two or three times and did several day trips over that summer. You'll find plenty of things to do that don't include tents and air mattresses!
Either way...enjoy!

Will there be a bathroom nearby? At that stage in pregnancy, you're going to be peeig 38739473957x a day. Sorry, but I would pass and do something else with the kids... there are tons of fun activities to do in the summer!

Hells no :( I remember going camping when I wasn't preggers and I was miserable and uncomfortable.. Also the bathroom was not close by and it was gross! lol. Unless its a luxury camping trip I would stay home! Thats just me:)

I agree with that ... but there are definitely OTHER fun things to do that don't require camping in a tent!
