Is Pepsid AC ok to take?
I'll call my dr, but has anyone been told by their dr Pepcid is safe to take? All info online says its ok, pharmacist said it was alright, I just want to be sure. I'm having severe heartburn almost to the point of puking and nothing has helped
TIA!!

I've been taking it since about 18 weeks. Tums did nothing but leave a metal taste in my mouth.
at first i was only taking one 10mg pill at night. As it got worse I started taking one early afternoon and the other about an hour before bed (about 12 hours apart) whether I had symptoms or not because I found if I skipped I would get the symptoms anyway then I would have to suffer because it was only 5-6 hours before I was due for the night one and I didn't want to skip that one for sure!! Now I find myself taking a 10 mg in the afternoon and sometimes having to take 20mg at night because its that bad. my ob said up to 20mg 2x a day about 12 hours apart is the max though.

I'm so happy to hear this! I've never had heartburn this bad in my life. It's so miserable.

Both Pepcid AC and Tums are safe. But it sounds like you have really bad heartburn, and both are only quick, short term relief. It it persists, talk to your dr. They might recommend Zantac or Prevacid, depending on how far along in your pregnancy you are. Zantac has saved me!

Is Pepsid AC ok to take?
The last 2 days (Im 28 weeks) my tums stopped working and it's been complete torture- It's burns like a Mofo nonstop! I was really hoping not to go beyond tums, but I cant function like this for another 12 weeks. Im goona try to stick it out until my Dr. appt next week and see what he says.

You're right. I tried 10mg last night but it only helped for a little. I'll try 20mg today. I have a dr appt next week so I'm going to ask about an rx. I'm 30 weeks; hope he doesn't just tell me to try and stick it out

10mg of what? Tums and Pepcid will only ever be short term fixes no matter how much you take.
Zantac is OTC so you don't need an rx. But you should always check with your dr on the safety, dosage and how often you can take it. Feel better!

Try taking 10mg twice a day for a couple of days, I had to before I felt a big difference. Also, stay away from triggers. Mine are high acidic and high sugar foods. Try not to eat anything for at least an hour or two before bed. Keep your head elevated a but in bed.
I dont feel the pepcid is short term, I've been taking it for half my pregnancy and it controls my heart burn. Everyone is different though. I would give it a few days though at 2x a day 10mg instead of jumping right to 20mg 1x.
