testing stage, month one

ok ladies, talk to me. today is cd1, so i was told around day 3 to have bloodwork, then between days 7 to 10 to have hsg testing ( which i am freaking about!!). DH needs SA, and then we try this month as usual with opk's etc. is this how it went for you? does the bloodwork necessarily need to be day 3 or can it be 4?

CD3 is typical for your baseline blood work. It can technically be done anytime b/w CD2-5.

As for everything else, I had a saline sono for my initial testing since it's less invasive, but didn't do an HSG for several months after a few IUIs did not work.

And of course your husband should have an SA first since that's the easiest test of them all!

A saline sono is used to see the lining of the uterus better. Can see polyps and such. HSG is used to evaluate if the tubes are blocked. Saline sono can not vizualize the patency of the tubes.

That's how it went for me. Blood work and sono CD3, then HSG, then endometrial biopsy, husband went for SA, then next cycle we talked about meds and stuff. I didn't have a hysterosono. Depends on the underlying issue and the doctor i guess. I freaked about the HSG and the biopsy but it really was not bad.

There were a few times when I was a day off for blood or sono and the office said a day or two is fine.

It can but that's not the primary purpose like an HSG. A saline sono gives the dr a picture of your uterus and can reveal things like fibrods or issues with endometrial tissue. Unless there's a reason to suspect there's a tubal blockage, my RE doesn't do HSGs before treatment. I did 2 IUIs before having an HSG.

A saline sono is also much faster and usually done in the office, whereas HSGs are out of office most of the time (not always).
