Medications

I take thyroid medication daily and as I pack my hospital bag I wonder if I should bring some pills with me or if they will give me what I need?

Medications

I'd put some in a baggie just in case.

Totally agree! Better to have and not need.

Re: Medications

You can pack them, but I would not take then unless you tell your nurse. When I was in the hospital they gave me all of my medications. They told me at pre-cert (I had a c-section) not to even bring them.

Pack them. It's a script.

Re: Medications

Pack them. My husband has been in the hospital before where they didn't have his meds in stock. Had he not brought them himself, he wouldn't have had them to take.

They will give you all your meds. It's a liability issue for them for you to take your own.

I would bring them, but imo, I would not just put a few pills in a baggie. I would be sure to bring the prescription bottle with all your information on it. They need to know exactly what it is so they can have it in your chart in case of possible drug interactions.

Good points. Totally agree.

You could just leave it in your bag and not tell them unless needed. Chances are they won't let you take them anyway. And if you do tell them you have it, they could take them away from you until you're discharged. But again, if you don't have them, and they happen to not have them in stock or something, they will just bring you your own supply whenever you have to take them. Better to have them and be safe.

Re: Medications

from experience with going to hospitals with my mom, you should bring any prescriptions with you in the bottles. They will ask what you are on and then you can give them the bottles. They write down the information and give you the same meds. You don't actually take the meds form your home though...it's more for verification that you are taking the correct meds!
