Those of you having a second or third child question

Since this is going to be my second pregnancy. What kind of a schedule did you keep with your first born? Did they still go to school and there activities in the begin? Did you keep them home with you and the new baby to bond? DD will be almost 4 goes to school part time 3 days a week. Do I keep that going when I get home from the hospital with the new one? BTDT mom any advice would be great. Sorry for rambling

DD was 4 when DS was born she goes to school 5 days a week and is in dance class 3 days a week and I kept her schedule

ETA: I'm a FTWM I kept her schedule because when my leave is over she would have to go back anyway

Dd goes to a home day care 5 days a week right now. I'm a teacher, so I have holidays and summers off. Baby #2 is due in August, so I'll be home with dd for a good part of the summer. I'll prob send her to daycare 1-2x a week come September. That way, she'll get to see her friends and I'll get some one-on-one time with the baby. We'll see!

DD will keep her same routine, she will be almost 4 as well when baby #2 is born. She goes to preschool now in a daycare so she's there full time 8-6, we both work, but i'm sure once i'm home with the baby on maternity leave i'll go pick her up earlier. I'm due in June so also when family comes to visit we'll keep her out to hang with them since it'll be the summer anyway.

DS is 32.5 months, baby is coming in 1.5 weeks.

we are not changing his routine at all. he will continue at daycare 5 days a week. he LOVES daycare and I think it would be worse to take him out only to have him home while I am taking care of a newborn.

DC#2 is due in August. I am pretty sure we will have DC#1 enrolled in some sort of summer program so I will likely keep our oldest with her regular routine. I think there is a week or two at the end of August where program is closed so she will get a vacation to hang with me and baby while DH is at work.

In September she is enrolled for 5 morning sessions and we won't change her schedule. I am FTWM likely returning some point in November so probably better for me to keep her in a bit of a routine.

DS will be just shy of 4 when this baby comes. Baby is due late August. Plan to have DS keep his regular schedule which is preschool. He only goes 2 days x week now but it goes up to 4 days for the 4's program. Worried about him transitioning from 2 to 4 days (only 2.5 hrs though) especially with things changing so close to the beginning of the school year but plan to just keep doing what we had planned with DS.

DS is 3. We plan on keeping him in school full time (I'm a FTWM), although the thought of part time for the summer has crossed my mind..it would save me $$ since I won't be getting paid 100% on leave.

Emerson will be 4.5 when the new baby arrives and originally I was going to pull her from school and keep her home. However, after thinking about it I felt it would be better to keep some of her old routine so that she keeps some sense of normalcy. Obviously we will be going out less and doing less, at least initially, so I feel it will be good for her to have school to look forward to and her dance class. I think she will adjust better if she has some sense of her "old life". Chat Icon

My second is due at the end of June. DD will be done with school by then but if she was in school, I'd definitely send her

We kept my DD's school schedule, she went 3 days for 2.5 hours a day.
