Mini Cribs
Anyone have one? Did you like it? Is there a special mattress you need?
I have a 2bdrm house and my 3 children will be sharing a room (yes you read that right ). I'm thinking of getting a mini crib so too much space isn't taken up.
Thoughts?

Mini Cribs
We live in a 1 br apt and space is tight for us. I researched some mini cribs and found that babies out grown the quickly. We ended up just sucking it up and getting a regular sized one from walmart so she can stay in it longer.

We found the same thing. The mini cribs were outgrown too quickly, plus needed a special mattress so that requires special bedding so it wasn't worth it. We bought a Walmart crib that converts to a toddler bed and DD2 is still in it at 2 1/2.

Re: Mini Cribs
I have a crib from my prior sons so it looks like I'll just save some $ and re-use their crib.
Thanks for the advice

Mini Cribs
I disagree with the others - we got a mini crib for our room and DD could easily still fit in it at 19 months and she is really tall. I think if space is an issue it is a fine option until you need a toddler bed. I think a child could fit in the mini crib until at least age 2.
Of course if you have a crib that fits and works, there is no need to buy another one.

Re: Mini Cribs
I personally would try to get a regular convertible crib since the mini crib won't last as long overall in terms of space. My DD is 4y3m and still in her crib.........converted to a toddler bed of course. She has plenty of room and loves it, the only reason we're switching her out of it soon is because our son will be born in March and needs a crib.

Re: Mini Cribs
I highly recommend the Ikea cribs. They are regular sized, but seem to be made for small spaces.
They are very well rated (much better than plenty of other cribs at BBB and BRU I compared them to) and very inexpensive.
I fit two cribs and a Queen size bed into a normal sized bedroom easily. It can fit 3 cribs no problem with room to spare. They also convert (no additional purchase needed) to toddler beds. I put them together myself and found it to be quite simple.
