If your closet self-destructed - how would you rebuild?
So far I have:
4 pairs of jeans - 1 skinny, 2 bootcuts, 1 trouser
aaaaaaaaand that's it.
In reality - I have like 10 prs jeans - only wear 2. 20 button downs, only wear 2, 8 sweaters - wear them all, 5 blazers - never wear them, etc.
I need a COMPLETE wardrobe overhaul.
What should I start with?
Nothing trendy.
OH - and most importantly - what's a nice, classic flat shoe that I can wear with socks in place of sneakers? No ballet flats - I'd like to wear socks in the winter.
Thanks for your help!!

Re: If your closet self-destructed - how would you rebuild?
I am slowly overhauling my wardrobe and jeans are my biggest weakness
I have 3 dark skinny, 1 light skinny, 1 dark bootcut, 1 light bootcut, 1 light flare, 1 light boyfriend style with rolled cuffs, 1 skinny turquoise, and 1 skinny black (that I rarely wear).
I would focus on basics like tees and tanks that can be layered with sweaters, scarves and long necklaces so you always have multiple options, and add in a few dressier/printed blouses in short and long sleeves.
As far as shoes, I prefer to wear tall riding boots with skinny jeans and then I have flat and wedge ankle boots for wearing with boot-cut style jeans instead of sneakers (which I never wear).
The best thing to do right now is take EVERYTHING out of your closet and try each piece on. If you love it, it stays. If you only like it a little, put it to the side and wait a month. If you don't look for it at all to wear, toss it. And obviously if you don't like it, it goes.
Good luck!

I feel dumb wearing tall boots when I'm just running errands. I prefer to wear bootcuts normally. I wear skinny w/boots for weekends and going out.
Flat ankle boots would be great but I don't want them to look too frumpy - do you have any suggestions?
I do need to go piece by piece and get the layering down. I need to find tanks and tees that billow out a bit to hide stomach bulge and I find that to be a pain.
And you know how you need to be in a mood to go shopping? Yeah, that will happen to me when I have a million other things to do!
My DD on the other hand - has a FABULOUS wardrobe. I wish I had a personal shopper the way she does!
eta: And duh, thank you!
