Dr.B related -kind of weird
I figured I would post this here since a lot of you may know dr. B. I used to be a patient of his and last saw him October 2011. Yesterday I get a LinkedIn invitation from him via my work email!
This weirded me out. I don't remember giving my work email at all. I usually avoid this at doctors. Has this happened to anyone else?
I have a specific career and if infertility was part of my "connections" it would be odd and stand out. To me it's mixing my personal medical life. Especially as I am not even his patient and haven't been in over a year!

No, but this just happened to a friend of mine w a well known Dr in the city. She.got an invite from him & was weirded out by it. My guess is they aren't aware these are being sent. I have been a patient of Dr. B's for years & honestly don't think he personally would send it. If I were you i would ignore it, decline it, or forward it to his email & make him aware. JMO. Hth!

ive gotten weird LinkedIn requests too... im assuming they just found your name or put your name in... they wouldnt need your email address as far as i know...

My guess is its like Facebook where they suggest friends you may know based on people you've emailed in the past.

I believe they can somehow link you with people who are in the address book of whatever email you are using...I was suggested to be a connection with a co workers husband whom I do not know at all..the only connection to him whatsoever I had was she used his email to email me once....said co worker is not on Linked-In..its freaky to me that they can do that.

i know his office is doing a marketing push this year so my guess is that whether it be facebook or whatever other email you are connected to him through probably somehow got linked to your work email as well. my guess is its prob more the company that he is using for marketing than him directly. but def email them and tell them so they can unlink your work email if it makes you uncomfortable.

I definitely deleted the request which was an invitation to join his group. It just weirdos me out that I was probably searched for by name. On fb I don't use my last name and email associated is a personal one. I never emailed with dr. B so it leads me to think he searched me.
Why would he think his patients want to be friends with his network. I know it's HIS business. But with the sensitive nature of his business I would think most of us don't want to advertise out medial history with co workers and clients!

I've logged into Linked In once or twice and hit a button which invited a plethora of people I knew somehow - maybe that was it.
The Executive Director of my daycare shows up as someone I may know and I have never contacted her through any form of email so I'm not sure how they find connections.

I would assume its more like fb and gmail, who track and link any email addresses. The same way I get linked in requests from my old classmates on my work email even though I never emailed them from work before.
