34W Growth sono
Good Morning Ladies,
I've been a bit MIA lately since I've been really sick since NYE.
Last Thursday i went in for my growth sono (I'm seeing a high risk OBGYN, so i go in every 2 weeks for sono's anyway) and from December 18th to last week, DD only gained 2 ounces My amniotic fluid is very low and they now want me to come in twice a week to monitor her.
Tonight will be my first of two visits this week - not sure how much growth they will see in just 5 days, but hoping she's grown at all!
Back in December she weighed 3lbs 8 ounces and last week she weighed 3lbs 10 ounces. My OBGYn told me she used to be in the 25th percentile but that she had dropped down to the 9th percentile. They let me know that it could be my hypertension that may be causing her to be onthe small side or it could be placental issues that could be causing her to not gain as much as she should.
Of course, i've heard from several friends and ladies on there that Dr's can be completely wrong when it comes to these growth sonos and they can be much larger when they are born than they had previously calculated....
I guess i just wanted to share in case anyone else is going through the same thing. I know i can't make her grow and I'm not doing anything wrong (first thing i asked the OBGYN )
They mentioned that if by 37 weeks she has not gained a significant amount of weight, they might induce me so that at least she can grow outside the womb.
On the bright side, she has been breech this whole pregnancy and she finally flipped and is head down!

I just don't understand why they have to freak you out. You still have 6 weeks to go, your baby will probably be a little peanut at 5 lbs. Nothing wrong with that.
Can I ask....did you have two different sono techs do the sonograms? because everyone takes different measurements and gets different numbers. Did they check the blood flow from your placenta?
I am going Friday for a repeat sono at 35w because at 33w, DD was measuring 4lbs. 2oz and is considered to have a skinny waist according to growth charts. My OB is not concerned at all, she said the baby will most likely be 6lbs and the repeat sono is just protocol we must follow.
I went through the EXACT same thing when I was expecting DS. He was in the 8th percentile at 35w. and was born at 40w measuring 6lbs 2oz and 19 inches. I just have small babies. He's now 25lbs at 21 months old and THRIVING. They had me go for weekly sonos and weekly NST and everything was fine, but they ruined my last month of my pregnancy bc I was a mess thinking he was going to be tiny. Of course, my OB reassured me he was fine, but the damage was done, they scared me!
One thing I will say though, my dr. told me to rest and to try to get to 40w by taking it easy so that he would grow more. I had no placenta or fluid issues though. I hope everything works out and your baby is ok.

Re: 34W Growth sono
There's always human error with sonos, and I'm hoping that's the case for you. I also think that throughout your pregnancy, your dr seems to make you nervous for nothing! My friend had a 5 lb even baby and she was even a few days past her due date. Her little girl is now over a year old! Some people just make small babies. I think that may be the case with you, but I'm glad they're closely monitoring your little girl. She will be here, healthy, before you know it.
I'm totally jealous, though, that your LO flipped! Mine is still breech and I'm thinking there's a c-section in my future.

Every time I go, there is a different sono tech. then the Dr. reviews my chart and sono images. Even the Dr. last time told me that if someone else had taken a new sono for me ½ hour later, the measurements would be different, because like you said, everyone measures differently.
They did check the blood flow from the placenta - and everything else seems fine - just her low weight.
I'm ok with her being a little peanut. She'll fit into all of her adorable newborn clothes for a little bit longer

Re: 34W Growth sono
I'm having the same issues. I have been put on bedrest for the last 3 weeks. Baby was measuring within the 7th percentile at 35 weeks. I'm now 37 weeks and I see a specialist on Friday to determine if baby has grown if not I will be getting induce next week.
