I personally would probably get a few fashion statement pieces to switch around with my wardrobe rather than one classic expensive piece
this wooden one is $179...it's fairly unique, neutral...i like it.
I also really like this mint nixon watch but it's hard to find
La Mer makes some nice wrap watches i like too.

If your budget is $500 you should look into burberry, their watches are swiss made, which means they are made in switzerland as opposed to swiss movement which is made in china.
Here is a nice 38mm in silver

I love the look of the rose gold or gold, however, my engagement ring/wedding band is platinum so I'm not sure if anything would really "go" other than a silver, white, or black watch. If you ladies think I'm wrong and think you can still wear a gold or rose gold watch even with platinum rings than please tell me. I'm not good at this and want it to look right.
*Keep in mind my rings(if you're familiar with the designer Tacori) are antiquey looking

I have white gold rings and I wear them together with the rose gold watch. I think it looks fine, and my engagement ring also has a bit of an antique look to it.

la mer watches are often for sale on Ideeli...you can also find them on the shopbop, piperlime and revolve websites. not sure about in store though.

you should also do a search on pinterest...you'll find so many great options. Only draw back is sometimes people don't link things to the parent site properly. Anytime I'm looking for something I look there for ideas.

I decided to go with a Michael Kors Parker, 39MM in Expresso. I was going in thinking I was going to get the Rose Gold one but fell in love with this color and every time I kept trying both on my eyes leaned more towards expresso. I LOVE your choice! I have a MK espresso, and wear it all the time. I originally wanted a rose gold as well, but it didn't look great on me, and same thing..espresso kept catching my eye. Enjoy, I love it!
