Babysitting
I am having my 3rd baby in July...I am going to go back to work after 12 weeks, most likely. My MIL watches my kids 3 days a week and will watch my new baby the same. Right now my mom watches my girls the other 2 days. I'm not sure if she is going to continue to watch my new baby. If not, I am trying to look into options. One thing we are considering is having my SIL put my kids on the bus (watch for 45 minutes and walk to bus stop) and then watch the new baby (hours would be from 8-3:30). She is staying home indefinitely and lives at my MILs house, so I am guessing she would choose to keep the baby there with her own baby, who will be about 9 months older than ours. How much is reasonable to pay her? Thanks!

Babysitting
I have a close family member watching DS while I'm at work (6 hours a day) and I will be paying her $20/day. If it wasn't a close family member I would of course expect to be paying more.

Re: Babysitting
I would say no less than $10 an hour.

Do you think so?? She isn't working nor would she be looking for a job. And she would be able to have her son with her while she does it. I sort of feel like if I am going to pay her $10 an hour I could get someone to come to my house and watch my child exclusively. Am I being crazy? I have never had a daytime sitter before that I had to pay.

Re: Babysitting
I don't think that is unfair. I agree you could get a non family member. Even though she will have her son she is still responsible for caring for your child. Will have to alter her days as taking 2 kids one being a new born anywhere isn't easy.
I look at it this way. She may not be working now but watching your kid becomes her job and she should be compensated for it. Watching a family members kid for a few hours here and there is different but On a set schedule it is a job. Just my opinion.
