Beaches Turks &Caicos?

So, we've been talking about going here for a while... Considered it a few years ago, but didn't go.

Question is... Is it REALLY worth the $? It's very expensive considering we will be 5 people and need one of the bigger rooms.

We haven't been on a real vacation in a while and dh and I figured we would skip Xmas and birthday gifts for each other to go somewhere nice, but I don't want to feel like I could've gone somewhere better for half the cost.

Then I've heard other places are great and family friendly like the Four Seasons, Nevis and another place on St Barth.

Please share your experience at Beaches.

Re: Beaches Turks &Caicos?

I haven't been there yet, but I can tell you the weirdest thing. BOTH times at Sandals when talking to other guests who were big Sandals people, we had several people tell us without any prompting that we HAVE to go to Beaches T&C, especially when we have kids. They said there's absolutely nothing like it and couldn't brag enough about it. This happened several times because you get into chats about which resorts you've been to before and people have said "oh Antigua is my favorite but..do you have kids? well when you do you HAVE to go to Beaches T&C" I've also had Sandals reps and other agents just GUSH over it, completely unprompted.

The Beaches resorts in Jamaica are less expensive and offer many of the same activities and amenities, but they don't approach the size and grandeur of T&C. The beach alone is probably worth the $

I haven't been to that resort (although have been to T&C and the beaches there are the most beautiful of any island I've been to - and I've been to at least 10), but over the weekend I was watching a show on a travel channel (which I never watch) and it was about the top 10 resorts to go to (or something like that) and Beaches T&C was on the list and it looked beautiful!

I've heard from a family member that we HAVE to go with the kids. So hopefully one day we'll be able to afford it.

If you can afford it, then def go! I went 5 years ago with my sister and her family and it was by far one of the best vacations ever! I can't say one negative thing about Beaches Turks and Caicos. The grounds are immaculate, great pools and restaurants and crystal blue water. It is a very child friendly resort. They have shows for the kids and Sesame Street characters walk around.

Thanks! Sounds like we would love it. I guess it's just a matter of whether we think it's worth THAT much money... Probably more than it would cost to go to an actual five star, luxury resort... Even with food and drinks.

My kids would love it for sure, but would probably be very content just at a beach, with sand, a pool and just being on vacation lol.

So torn..

Also, is there a benefit to using a TA for beaches? It seems so easy booking direct.

Re: Beaches Turks &Caicos?

I'm glad you asked this because we are debating about going here as well. I priced out May and it was WAY cheaper than July or August, so if you can somehow swing dates while the kids are in school and take them out, you might find some better prices. Does anyone know if they charge for babies under 1, as if we go in May, one of my daughters will only be 6 months old.

It was worth it. I never expected to want to go to the same place in the Caribbean twice but I am determined to get there again.

I'm also looking into a Caribbean getaway. Trying to decide between Beaches T&C and a normal luxury resort like a Ritz or Four Seasons.

The few moms I know who went to Beaches T&C all say it is awesome. They are new friends though and I don't know how they normally travel.

Re: Beaches Turks &Caicos?

We have been there 4 times and we love it! We went 3 years in a row and skipped a couple of years and decided to come back last thanksgiving. It was easier when DS was not at school and we took him there on May.

It is everything, the service, the beach, the activities, etc. DS went to the kids camp on the first 3 trips, but in the last one he didn't want to. I think he felt he was "too old" for Elmo and cookie monster visits and story time, although my guess is that they don't show in the "big kids" camp. Anyway, we spent the days at the beach, pool and water area. During the nights they have shows, a place to play xbox and many more activities, plus the activities included at the beach like kayaking.

The food is ok, but they have many restaurants and options, from buffet to a la carte... japanese, seafood, mexican, italian, sushi, etc.

We always have had a great experience there.

Sandals/Beaches will never allow a price anywhere to be less than what a Travel agent will get you, so you're always going to pay the same rate whether you work with an agent or not. You may have a lower rate with an agent because a good agent will watch the rates and apply a price drop if it comes along. Beaches T&C has literally dozens of room categories so an agent can help you choose the best one for your family and will also make the right request for you because what isn't always obvious online is that sometimes the same room category can be at different places around the resort. Beaches and Sandals resorts also have relationship managers at each resort who work with TAs and their clients directly, so they can often step in to make sure your trip is going smoothly or request an upgrade for you. Agents don't charge you anything but may be able to offer you some kind of gift for booking. It's a win win. Even though it is easy to book online, my opinion, from both sides is that it's better to work with an agent.

Before I started, I booked Sandals with an agent and it was worth it not only because she got me a lower rate when it came out but because I also got a free candlelight dinner as a gift from her. Chat Icon
