Sea Sick Pills

I leaving on a cruise at the end of the month. Am I allowed to take any sea sick pills? I believe what they give out for free is Bone 9.( not sure if I am spelling it right) Not sure if this allowed. By then I would be almost 9 weeks pregnant.

I believe Bonine is a class c which means there hasn't been research to see the effects. I wouldn't take it. I usually take stuff while flying and cruising. Just flew last week and didn't take any...royally sucked but didn't want to risk it. Try sea bands

Sea Sick Pills

If its Class C, i definitely woudlnt... not for something like this anyway... i would only us a class c drug if the benefits outweighed the possible dangers... I would use Sea Bands... id deal with the sea sickness... make sure i had plenty of fluids to stay hydrated if i did get sick.

Have you ever been on a cruise? I've never gotten seasick on a cruise and don't think you'll need anything - unless you're experiencing MS already.

You might want to bring the sea band, though. It's just a bracelet that you wear on a pressure point on your wrist that helps if you feel seasick. but again, I doubt you'd need anything.

Re: Sea Sick Pills

I am gonna ask my Dr this question on Monday. I have been on a cruise before and never got sea sick because I always took the pills. I didn't want to take any chances of me getting sick sick so I just took the pills. I don't want to take anything that would harm my baby.

I wouldn't take anything as a 'just in case' while you're pregnant. Those cruise ships are so large and have systems to balance themselves that you really shouldn't feel any different than if you were on land. I'd invest in the bracelet and take meds along, but don't take anything unless you really need it. JMO. But I don't take any meds during pregnancy if I can help it.

I went on a whale watching tour in my last pregnancy, they offered motion sickness pills to everyone for free, but would not give them to pregnant women, pretty sure it's unsafe to take them. If you're not even sure you'd get sick, I definitely wouldn't take the chance.

I agree. Also, I went on a cruise while 12/13 weeks in my first pregnancy. I was nervous I would feel sick (I normally NEVER have a problem with sea sickness). My OB prescribed me zofran to take along just in case since we know that's safe. I never ended up taking it and felt absolutely fine.

One thing you may want to watch out for is at 9 weeks, you MAY have constant morning sickness and/or food aversions(not everyone does). If so, sitting at the buffets may be a challenge. This is just something people warned me about before my cruise. Lucky for me, I was one of those "never feel sick but had the appetite the size of Texas" kind of girls. I ate like a whale on my cruise and gained 10-12lbs in the first trimester because I was never sick and constantly hungry. Of course it can go either way ... hopefully it will be a nice little early babymoon.

Re: Sea Sick Pills

I def. wouldnt take the pills. I went on a cruise at 13 weeks. I had a prescription for the patch that goes behind the ear, but I never used it. I did use Sea Bands. I never got sea sick, but not sure if it was because of sea bands or simply because the motion didnt affect me.
