can you eat sushi....
when breastfeeding?
are you under the same food restrictions as when you are pregnant? cold cuts? seafood?

You can eat sushi while nursing and you are not under any real dietary restrictions when nursing. It is advisable to stay away from frequent servings of high mercury fishes, but that's it. Gassy food and dairy affect some babies, but not others. I breast fed my DD1 for over a year and could eat whatever I wanted. Medication is a slightly different story.

Basically you stay away from sushi (and certain other foods) when you're pregnant b/c the uncooked fish (or whatever) could make you sick and it'd be hard for your unborn baby to fight it. However, once you've delivered, if you got sick, you would be able to fight it and your baby would already be out of your body.

Dh brought me sushi from our favorite sushi place to the hospital after dd was born. I craved sushi so bad and tempura rolls did not cut it! And yes I'm bf and its perfectly ok! So r med rare burgers and steaks, yum!
