My sometimes terrible 2 year old.....

Chat Icon Chat Icon Hi, My dd just turned 2. Aside from all of the other toddler issues, she just started 2 really annoying new things...

1) whenever I get on the phone- she follows me around the hose and says "NO PHONE MOMMY!" over and over and over again. I have tried it all- gave her a play phone, told her it's not nice, tried to distract her, let her speak to the person on the phone and even cut my calls short.

2) When she drinks from her sippy cup she now likes to let the water out of her mouth and all over her clothes, my furniture and even all over in public spaces- she even spits it now... I have scolded her, ignored her, taken the cup away. How do I make sure she gets enough fluid- if I keep taking the cup away????

Please any advice would be appreciated.

thanks

For me using the "big girl" worked. If she has an older cousin enlist their help. Raving about how nicely she eats may work. Rewarding her with dinner out if she learns manners is also an option. As proof that I really am just winging this motherhood thing & don't know what I'm doing...on occasion I announce it's "No Manners Day". The kids can eat with their hands & not say please & thank you.Chat Icon

You can tell her if she interrupts you on the phone that she needs to sit in a chair for 2 minutes to see if that works, . You can tell her she can't watch TV for a few minutes too. I think you have to pick & choose your battles. I'd rather punish for fighting or doing something unsafe.

Good luck. Hope this helps.
