Vacation with a 1 yr old...
I want to go away for mine and dd's bdays in may... My 30th and her 1st on the same day so its pretty special
Anyhoo, was wondering what you guys thought might be better... A cruise or a land vacation... We'd cruise out of NY so no flying or if we went on a land vacay, we'd have to fly somewhere warm and flight has to be relatively short (my dad isn't keen on flying so the shorter the better if need be)
Which would you choose with a 1 yr old? Pros/cons? Any suggestions for resorts also welcome!

They did last year, but I just checked and it didn't come up for 2013. Weird.

Thank you for looking! Back to the drawing board
I'd love to go to an AI bc I've never been, but I not sure how a plane ride with a 1 yr old is going to pan out... Don't want to start the vacation looking to rip my hair out

Vacation with a 1 yr old...
If you decide that you want to do a cruise just be aware that most cruise lines do not let babies in their pools unless they are potty trained - even if they are wearing swim diapers. I wanted to take a cruise with DD and decided against it because of the pool issue.
Edited for spelling

I cringe of the ear popping on the plane and having a child feel this and not know of what it is, is scary for them.
What about the Hamptons, Montauk, or Myrtle Beach?

We left for a cruise on DD's 1 yr birthday, she had a blast. I'd pick a cruise only because I wouldn't want to lug a car seat around.

As far as I know, Disney doesn't cruise out of NY.
The Disney Cruises out of NY were only for June-September 2012. So far the EARLIEST we could POSSIBLY see them come back is late 2014. Looking at the schedule it's possible for the Magic or Wonder to come back up for summer 2014, but we don't know yet. Absolutely nothing in 2013.
RCCL is a very kid-friendly line. NCL is launching the incredible Breakaway out of NY this year, so you do have cruise options.
I like cruises for big family trips with any age child because you can have the child go to the nursery or kids' club and have some adult time as well, and they do a great job with age-appropriate activities. It's also good that it's self contained, so it's very easy to leave dinner early if you have to, or to get back to the room for nap time.
One disadvantage of a little one on a cruise is that kids can't use the pools in diapers. Many ships have amazing toddler water play areas, but it's just something to keep in mind.
If you're willing to fly for Disney Cruise Line, there's always FL, and there are some great Kids Sail Free offers out of Galveston, TX.
