Introducing myself
Hi ladies, I know some of you from the TTC board but still introducing myself! I have been officially TTC for almost a year with no luck. I already have a 6yr old from a previous marriage.
Some background-- I had surgery around 8 years ago to remove extensive endo around my ovaries, tubes and uterus. I also had many adhesions and scar tissue inside my uterus. I was told I may need IVF eventually when I wanted to get pregnant due to my right ovary and tube being heavily scarred and damaged. After my surgery, my quality of life improved 100%- I was no longer in extreme amounts of pain and my cycle lightened and regulated. Then, I became pregnant naturally with my DS 2 years later! My Dr was shocked and very optimistic for future pregnancies being that the ovary and tube that was damaged were the ones that I became pregnant through! Six years later, I am a year into TTC for #2 and wondering if any of my endo/scarring have returned. I'm so worried. I really don't want to have to go through another laparoscopy but I think I may have to opt for it if I am not getting any answers. The original DR who did my surgery does IVF and specializes in infertility so I am confident I can go back to see him but I am slowing it down and seeing my OB first- i'm just really scared of surgery :(
***What would you do??***
~~My OB is high risk but is very conservative. He scheduled me for a consult just after new years to discuss our first steps, which will most likely be blood work and an HSG.
~~The OB/IVF specialist who did my surgery takes a more active approach. I would have a consult with him and being that I have a history of bad endo and organ damage, he would want to put me under general anesthesia for laparoscopic surgery, which will include the HSG for my tubes, Hysteroscopy to check ovaries, lining/adhesions, and all endo/adhesion removal- all in one shot. He really changed my life with my original surgery but I am just so scared about going under. However, I know I will get all of my answers as to my current physical status.
I have normal cramps each month- not horrible endo pain so I really don't think the endo returned. Do you think taking the conservative approach is smart at 30 years old? Thanks for listening!

Introducing myself
Welcome! Hope your stay here is short!
I do not have much advice for you as I am only in my 2nd cycle with my RE, but the only thing I regret is not seeing a RE sooner and wasting many months with my OB/GYN. I know you are scared of surgery, but I'm more of a lets-check-for-everything-at-once kinda girl and I would want all the tests done at once.
In the end, do what is comfortable to you. 30 is young, you have time to be conservative if you want.

Introducing myself
I would see the RE it's their area of expertise to get you pregnant and you can still set the pace in how aggressive or non aggressive you want to be with treatment / surgery but you'll have more testing which= more information and a more informed decision

Introducing myself
Def seek out an RE...they are trained to get you pregnant while an OB is trained to keep you pregnant...I wasted 3 months with my gyn when I should have seen an RE immediately...its the same logic that you wouldnt see a podiatrist for a heart condition

Good to hear you are taking this step. I am sure it is nerve racking. I am for you that you don't need surgery!
Good luck and hope to see you on the other side real soon!!!

Re: Introducing myself
like many other's mentioned...i too waster many months with my OBGYN and wish i had listened to the advice here and went to see a RE sooner rather than later. I waster 8 months with an OBGYN and they did absolutely NOTHING for me.
Remember, an OBGYN is supposed to keep you healthy during your pregnancy. A RE's job is to help you get pregnant.
I would want to have all my testing done right away and get it all over with instead of having to take the time out of my schedule to do one test now and another test at a later date. Especially if the one test (which will do many tests in one) can give me the answers that I need that much quicker.
I am 31 and i started this whole process when i was 30. so its up to you which approach you will take and what makes you most comfortable.
