12 week appointment

I have my 12 week appointment next week, but that is not the appointment where I am having my NT scan done (they do it out of the office). I don't have a sono scheduled in the office, but will they be able to hear the heartbeat externally?

at my 12 week we heard the heartbeat but since I was a little nervous post hurricane sandy he did a quick external sonogram so I could see LO...it wasn't anything special though!

I don't know if it depends on your doctors office but at my 12 week appt they checked for the heartbeat. It wasn't the easiest to find but it was there and strong. My doctor told me that every appt that I don't have a scheduled sono they will always check the heartbeat...

I go to Women for Women if that helps. They don't do the NT Scan in the office either. I had to go to LIJ.

I had my NT scan (out of the office) right before my 12w appt, so I heard the hb at the NT scan and they didn't bother with the doppler since I had just heard and seen the baby. But, if your NT scan is later, I'm sure they'll try to find the hb on the doppler. 12w is still a little early for the doppler.

Them finding the heartbeat on the Doppler is my fear...with my other two, I had an anterior placenta so it was very hard to hear the heartbeat even later in pregnancy. There is no way I can leave that office without tphearing the heartbeat and knowing everything is ok...I don't have my NT for a week after that and haven't had a sono since before Thanksgiving! I just need the peace of mind that everything is ok.
