Baby eczema
DD is 10 weeks and had developed some baby eczema on her face, shoulders and arms. Nothing too bad although she did clam at her eye lids a few times. It seems to look the worst in the morning when she wakes up - her face is bright red and scaly. Ped recommended Aquaphor or Eucerin. Aquaphor has helped on her body but not her face. My friend suggested coconut oil so I've been doing that for 4 days and no improvement. Ped said I could do 1% hydrocortisone if it got very dry...yay or nay? Not sure if it necessary?

Re: Baby eczema
Ds1 has horrible eczema. Like you, none of the creams were working on his face so the dr prescribed the cream you have. He said to use it sparingly because it thins the skin, more so on the face. I used it once and it cleared up right away then I put the other creams on everyday so it wouldn't come back. I know he recommended aquafor but I would use cerava cream it comes in the tub. It's pricey but works the best and its not greasy like aquafor.

Baby eczema
When DS gets nasty patches I'll user a tiny bit of cortizone. I use cetaphil lotion on him and that tends to keep it at bay.

Re: Baby eczema
My son gets eczema on his face and we tried it all. The only cream that worked and kept it away was the jug of cetaphil or the generic cvs cetaphil. I also mix it with the 1% cortisone when it gets really flared up. This helps to clear it up quickly. I use plain vasoline mixed with a little cortisone around his lip area eczema. If I don't keep up with it it comes back quickly so I try to apply everyday. Although try not to use the cortisone for more then a few days.

Yes, this helped DD's body a lot. Her face... it helped a little. The hydrocortisone got it to go away right away. When it got really bad, we'd use a little bit of the hydrocortisone for a day or two until it cleared up, and then right back to just the CeraVe.
Now that the weather is so dry and the heat is on, the dry air might be making your LO's eczema worse. If you have a cool air humidifier, you could try using that for a few nights and seeing if it helps.

Re: Baby eczema
Cerave can be used every day-- use a little cortisone to clear it up, then keep moisturizing with cerave, and also lanolin (nipple cream) works well too. It will clear up in a few days.

Re: Baby eczema
When DD's is really bad, the only thing that works is a steroid from the doc, but the only cream I use is Cerave in the tub. I also will only use exederm baby wash and shampoo on her and purex free and clear for her clothes. Everything else aggravates her condition.

Re: Baby eczema
Have you considered an allergy? I know eczema is not always related to food allergies, but many times it is. Both of my kids get it from their food allergies, it always starts around the corner of the eyes. My ou can bring a poopy diaper into the ped for them to check for blood.

This. Ds1 gets horrible outbreaks when he eats something with dairy in it.

Re: Baby eczema
Thanks girls. My MIL is here now and said to try Eucerin. My BIL had terrible eczema and still does as an adult and they both say that is great. Will give it a go and then check out the CeraVe. Or may try a few dabs of hydrocortisone. It does not seem to bother her much so I dont want to make a big stink about it but do want to try and clear it up KWIM?
Thanks for the tip on the humidifier, I did not think of that. My house does feel super dry so maybe that is why it is so red in the a.m.
Also - I did think of the food allergy thing - could it be dairy in my diet? She is EBF. Need to google that one.
