Staying in Bed - Please HELP!
DS switched to a big boy bed about 3 weeks ago. He will not stay in bed for anything when we put him down! I tried the positive reenforcement- u can get out of bed 1 time and after that if you stay in bed we can go get a donut tomorrow- nope! I tried the negative approach - no puzzle or now TV - nothing! He still gets in and out 10 times. Its a game to him. I tried the Super Nanny approach - not looking at him and walking him back to his room - he thought it was a game. Everything he thinks is a game and if I try a reward he needs it to be immediate. Any ideas?

Re: Staying in Bed - Please HELP!
Okay please don't laugh we made a game and it works for us. We have a tickle troll. He is big like sully from monsters inc. He is furry, purple, with wings and a tutu (no I didn't pick what he looked like) he is not scary but he comes and tickles little girls or boys who do not stay in their beds. We went from getting up several times to only getting up for potty time. They can stay in their beds and talk to themselves or their stuffed animals but the tickle troll will come tickle them if they do not stay in their beds. You can come up with something else your child will find funny. It worked much better than reward chart, taking things away, talks etc. Now it is a game and they race each other to see who will get in 1st and not get tickled.
