... and trying not to take anything for it because I don't really like the idea of taking any kind of medication... how do you all deal?

Pepcid 10mg. usually just at night, but sometimes I have to take it 2x a day. Home remedies, milk of magnesium and tums didn't work. Sometimes cold water or ice chips helps but it doesn't make it go away.
It's worse to suffer imo

Re: heartburn hell
I take zantac 150 every day per doctors OK. ( took it with my second son too!) It's amazing. And safe. I wouldn't suffer with heartburn, it's debilitating!! and dietary changes really don't do much.

Re: heartburn hell
I take Tums, and when that doesn't work, I pop a Zantac 75. Especially in the 2nd and 3rd trimester, both meds are fine and perfectly safe. I am also against taking any meds unless I really need it, but as my dr put it to me - it's better to take the meds than have acid burning through your esophagus. You could give yourself an ulcer, which is much worse than simply popping a Tums (which has the added bonus of calcium, too!).

Honestly, I'd take whatever your doctor has ok-ed. I suffered through this pregnancy because I didn't want to take anything more than tums. It was a huge mistake! I spent 27 weeks miserable, I couldn't eat anything! I'm now 34 weeks and have gained 6lbs because I literally could not stomach a meal. It's become a huge issue. I have to have weekly sonos and there is some serious concern about having to take the baby before 40 weeks. Thankfully, I recently started taking medication which makes it better and I've gained 2 lbs in the last 2 weeks. DO NOT suffer for no reason, call your doctor!

I took zantac and tums at first...and the zantac didn't work too well. So my OB said I could take prilosec and that worked much better. There are things you can take so why suffer?
