Fluid around heart?
I am 9wks and was told at my last sono that there "might be" fluid around my baby's heart. I'm going for a further scan Tues, but was wondering if anyone has had this said to them, and it turned out to be false? My Doc said often times it could just be the baby's position, or "artifact" (meaning just extra gunk...nothing serious.) I'm just a wreck about it, and was hoping for some guidance.
Thanks :)

Fluid around heart?
I had this happen to me too. My doc said he saw some extra fluid around the heart in a sono, and sent me for a follow up sono at stony brook. At the first sono there, they said that they saw what he was talking about but they didnt think that it was anything. they wanted me to come back in 2 weeks for another followup to make sure the fluid didnt increase or anything, if it increased i would be sent for a fetal echocardiogram. 2 weeks later I went back, and they still said it was such a small amount of fluid that they didnt think it was anything. One thing that my doctor told me that gave me peace of mind is that technology now a days is so much better than it was 'back in the day' that they are able to see so much more. Although this is great on some levels, sometimes seeing 'too much' causes stress. In my case the fluid was nothing to worry about it. My little guy is due next week, and the fluid hasnt even been mentioned since early in the pregnancy. Hope you get the same results!

Re: Fluid around heart?
Thank you SO much for responding. Do you mind saying what OB you go to? Our scan is tomorrow, and it cannot come soon enough. My Doc said the sono machines in their office aren't reliable, and that the machines at Stony Brook (I'm assuming we're going to the same place you did? Technology drive?) are WAY higher tech, and are equipped to see such things. I'm just trying to find some peace of mind. I do know that if it's bad...it's really bad. Just praying to God it all works out. I am so glad everything worked out great for you and it turned out to be nothing. What a relief. I have a 14 month old boy...you're going to find a whole new meaning to the word "love." Have a wonderful delivery! :)

Re: Fluid around heart?
We went to the same place for the scan and everything turned out "PERFECTLY NORMAL." I nearly fell off the chair!
SO HAPPY!
Thanks for your support!
