Pertussis
So at school yesterday I received a memo in my mailbox stating that there was a confirmed case of pertussis in my building. The school nurse was absent so I was unable to ask about the student's case, whether he was contagious anymore etc. They sent me to an alternate building to be safe. They do this for fifths disease as well. I called my OB and he said you could contract it anywhere but I should try to avoid scenarios in which I know it's present. He wants me to get the vaccine and it is on order for me and should arrive in a week or so. I am trying to figure out if I should be going to the alternate location on Monday and for how long? Have any of you had experience with this? I know pertussis is NO JOKE but I also don't want to be out of my classroom or overreact if I don;t need to be. Thanks ladies1

Re: Pertussis
We had a case in my school too, and the doctor said that as long as I had the vaccine (even if it was awhile ago) that the baby would be protected. She wanted me to wait til after I give birth before I get a refresher shot of it. She didn't really seem concerned.
