San Diego/ Disney land vacation

Has anyone done a combo trip to California like this? How long do you think we would need to go?

Any input would be great!

Tia

Re: San Diego/ Disney land vacation

Haven't done this trip, looked into it last year.... might try for next year.

we can only go for a week, so would have to make it work. I felt like every hotel you had to pay for parking. couldn't find any hotel that offered a free breakfast. Disneyland, legoland, seaworld, the zoo.... lots of parks to get to... lots of money for parks and food.

let me know what you come up with

Disney can be fully done in 2 full days. If you are really into it - maybe you want another day.

San Diego will depend on what you want to do. a few days to a week is great. and yes - every hotel in SD charges for parking.

Sea world, seals at La Jolla, Coronado Island, Gaslamp, Del Mar, surf lessons, hiking inn the mountains, hot air balloon ride, seaworld, zoo, legoland (wasn't as nice as we thought)

We used to live in SD and go back once every year or so.

Re: San Diego/ Disney land vacation

We're doing a week in February. I don't have my whole trip fleshed out yet. We're leaving a full 3-4 days for Disneyland.Disneyland is deceiving. Disneyland Park itself is smaller than Magic Kingdom park in FL, but it has more attractions. I would say you should allot 2 days to that just like you would MK. For me, I also want to make sure I get to see both Fantasmic! and World of Color so I'd want MINIMALLY 2 nights there.
We also plan to do the San Diego Zoo, and potentially one of the other theme parks. I want to try to do a whale watching tour.

I think we're going to try to limit our car rental. We won't need it at Disneyland. Our hotel (like MANY hotels) is walking distance from Disneyland (actually it's IN California Adventure Chat Icon ). We'll rent it for the San Diego part.

Right now we have 2 nights booked mid-week, a Tuesday and Wednesday night. I want to add 2 more days at another hotel at Disneyland. I'm struggling with how to balance the trip at either end.
