Not finding out
I found out what I was having with both DS's. This time around I do not want to find out because I want that "It's a..." feeling after delivering the baby.
Has anyone had the best of both world's finding out and then not (or vice versa)? Was not finding out as exciting as I think it may be? Or am I just psyching myself up?
I'm asking because now that I'm 11wks I'm wondering if I really want to find out now instead of later. I'm just having a hard time holding off until the delivery but I don't want to regret it either.
I'd love to hear what your experience was.

Re: Not finding out
i dont have experience as this is my first, but we are 32 weeks along and not finding out. so far it has been great! yes there are times i wish i knew to make life easier, but imo it makes the end so much more exciting and i think it will make me get through labor a little easier knowing i will finally know what it is. its also fun to have everyone guess and wonder. i cant wait til we can make the announcement

Re: Not finding out
I have 2 boys and we didn't find out either time. I think the anticipation and the excitement around everyone guessing is great. Also when the baby is born to hear its a ____ is faboulous and all your friends and family are anxiously waiting to hear.
The way I look at it - there are very few surprises in life so enjoy the happy ones :)

Re: Not finding out
It was so wonderful to find out the twins were girls in the delivery room. I was so glad we never caved and found out.

Re: Not finding out
I only have one so far, but we did not find out. I always wanted that moment hearing "It's a . . . !!" When we go for #2 I will probably do the same.

Not finding out
This is our first; but I love not knowing. I look forward to when the baby comes out and the doctor announces what the sex is! It's a little hard not being able to make things gender specific; but over all it's been worth it!

Re: Not finding out
I didn't know what we were having with DD and I was SO happy I held out. Coolest moment EVER was hearing, "IT'S A GIRL" especially when we were convinced it was a boy!! I loved the suspense and everyone guessing what we were having. I was so happy I waited.
This pregnancy I found out and it was different, so much more uneventful. The sono tech told us.......no build up, no excitement. We were like, "oh, ok". Nothing exciting. And while it's nice to know I sort of wish I held out again. I think it would've been more fun to have the build up for 40 wks like last time.
I don't know, I think ultimately being Team was a much cooler experience throughout my pregnancy then just knowing.

Not finding out
i only have one but we didnt find out. i delivered early and was asleep for my section and i really have little to no recollection of finding out. it was def not the "its a girl" moment i dreamed of. so next time around i def will be team green again. but i also LOVED not knowing. i had no desire to find out at all and loved the guessing. im not a planner either so it was really great and fun and i loved hearing peoples guesses and reasoning.

Re: Not finding out
I'm intending to stay team green... I've never had a big surprise in my life. I want to experience that.
We have no real need to know either way... I tend to be attracted to things that are in gender neutral colors anyway.

Re: Not finding out
We were/are team with all of our children. We have videos for each child after they were born with DH walking down the long hall and videotaping our families peeking through the little windows of the waiting room doors with anticipation. When he opens up the door you can see every single person basically itching to find out what we had. We have full on celebrations on camera after DH announced "It's a boy!!" or "It's a girl!!". My kids will be able to see how excited our family was to hear they were born when they get older.
I would not trade finding out in the delivery room for a second. Nothing like hearing those three words after all that hard work of bringing them into the world. I've had tears stream down my face each time with joy.
Stay strong and team , it is worth it.

Re: Not finding out
I was thinking about not finding out this time but once I found out I was having twins that was enough of a surprise for me. I feel like I now need to have things organized and planned out ahead of time.
