Moms that work from home... When you go to office
What do you do when you have to go into the office for a day? Left my last job in May and then a co. I worked with offered me a part time job that's from home. The office is over an hour away so for 1 meeting before they hired me we met somewhere in the middle. They have a big meeting next Wednesday at their office with some heads of PGA (an event we are working on with them so this is important) and then later they said it's their Holiday party. I started last week and feel its important to go to the meeting and stay for the party. Means I will be gone pretty much all day and night. My parents are away so I guess I may have to ask DH to take a day off. Thoughts? I have a 1 and 3 yr old. My 3 yr old goes to preschool for a few hours a day and then my 1 yr old is home with me.
What do you do when you get a situation like this? Meeting is at 10am and holiday party at 6pm.

Re: Moms that work from home... When you go to office
I work part time at home. My kids go to daycare when I work (oldest is in K).
My office is OOS so when I go to the office it's a trip. On those days/times DH works from home if he can. The kids go to daycare extra days. If DH can't work from home, my mom will usually meet DD at the bus stop or my girlfriend will get her and watch her until DH gets home.
I would definitely try to go for the meeting/party.

Re: Moms that work from home... When you go to office
I have a sitter who comes to my home so I can WAH 95% of the time. If I need to be "off-site" for an OOT meeting/event, I ask the sitter to come early/stay late so that she's here when DH leaves and gets home from work. If that's not possible, I ask my ILs, SIL, cousins, etc to help out. I figure it's so seldom that they won't mind doing so (and usually everyone is happy to help out)
