Home Improvement Star Taran Noah Smith Convicted of DUI, Drug Possession

Former child star Taran Noah Smith has been convicted of driving under the influence and drug possession following his February arrest, TMZ reports.

The 28-year-old Home Improvement actor -- who played Tim Allen's youngest son, Mark, on the popular '90s series -- was taken into custody by police in L.A. early on the morning of Feb. 1 when cops found him parked in front of a fire hydrant. Officers believed he was under the influence of marijuana at the time of his arrest and found a stash of hash in his vehicle.

According to TMZ, Smith pled "guilty" to the drug possession charge and "no contest" to the DUI charge when he appeared in court on Dec. 4. As a result, he was sentenced to a 12-hour program for the DUI, a six-month drug diversion program for the hash offense and three years of probation.

Smith is not the only Home Improvement alum to have trouble with the law. In 1997, two years before the show ended its run, series star Allen was arrested for DUI in Michigan.

Last year, the two reunited with the rest of the Tool Time gang for a Home Improvement reunion arranged by Entertainment Weekly. Speaking to the magazine about his life after the show -- during which time he became an installation artist and started his own vegan food company -- Smith told the magazine, "It was pretty exciting to leave it behind and do other things."
